Has anyone heard anything else about those cast iron heads ???? I was hoping Alan or Reddog was going to find some more info, maybe even flow numbers.
It is to late for me to buy any this year. But I like to hear about new Ford Parts.
I think cabin fever is making us all want to go pullin really bad.
I haven't been able to get flow numbers on the new Iron head due out later this spring. I'd like to know more myself but they seem to be keeping that close to the vest, sorry.

Alan. Do you or anyone else have a web address or phone number for IDT. I wouldn't mind trying to talk to someone there.
I went back and reread the thread. The guy you were talking to was Jay ???
The Series 700 head is available in early January (we have castings now). The Series 700 is a small port head with a D shaped exhaust port. This head comes with a standard 2.08" intake valve and a 1.64 exhaust valve. The series 700 CJ will be available in the spring. This will have a 2.25" intake valve and a 1.74" exhaust valve. The intake port is larger and the exhuast port is a D shape design. Both style heads come machined for screw in studs and dual valve springs.

IDT Heads
February 9 2007, 1:18 PM
I talked with John at IDT today (Jays Dad). He said the small port heads are industrial heads only with no performance value. He stressed this. But that the CJ heads are in development and they are coming along. He hopes to have them soon. A couple of months ???? He said they would be as inexpensive as possible. Hopefully around $1200 per set. He encouraged me to call him back in a few weeks to check on their progress.
So no flow numbers yet seeing that he doesn't have a set cast yet.

I just talked with John. He said they had gotten a set of heads poured in Alum. But hadn't heard how it went yet. (They may need to tweek the mold a little)
I asked a few questions but not all I needed. Will make a list for next time. I told him I would call back in a couple of weeks.
For now. He said the CJs had D shaped exshaust ports.
D3 shaped/size combustion chambers. Which may get changed to a small chamber at production time. He also said the ports were shaped a little better then the stock cast iron CJ heads.
Now for some Flow Numbers. Drum roll please .........
He said 390 cfms @ 28" of water at 850 lift intake
244 cfms @ 28" of water at 850 lift exshaust
I need to ask about the valve layout. If it is stock or not. Then we will know if custom stud girdles and guide plates are needed.

re IDT heads

Don't forget to see if they will be available in iron.

OH Yea

They are going to be iron heads. He is just pouring Alum. until all is right with the molds. Then they will go in to production with cast iron. From what he said the Alum. is so much easier to work with and then recycle for these tests.

Have you talked to Jay or John lately to get an update on the new heads?

How come you don't just do some regular iron cj heads? Looks like you're really anxious for these IDT heads.

I'm not doing anything with the heads until next winter, but, I'm trying to learn more about these heads to see if they flow better (or have more potential) than the CJ heads at a more affordable cost.

those numbers dont sound much better than some o Scotts best on a stock Dove.
I would love to see the area underr the curve
Is the D port raised at all to improve flow?

I would tend to agree with you, but, if those are the "virgin" numbers, then I can't help but wonder what the flow numbers would be with a little rubbing. Also, since Jay is on the 460ford site, I wonder if he'll follow Kasse's lead and send a head to the Evans boys and to Scott as well. Then we'll find the true potential of the new heads.

Sorry it has been so long getting back with you. I haven't been able to get a hold to anyone at IDT the last couple of weeks. I'll keep trying and when I find out more news I'll let you know.

Just talked with John
April 11 2007, 10:07 AM
I just got off the phone with John.
He said they were working with the intake ports and that the pattern maker was making some adjustments. I assume the first test wasn't acceptable and they had to rework the pattern to make a new mold.
He said the exshaust port was D shaped and raised some but he didn't know how much because they didn't have a finished set.
Intake flow at .700 lift should be in the neighborhood of 360-370. This may change for good or worse once into production.
The heads do have a stock valve layout.
Really has no idea when production may start, do to waiting on the pattern maker.
Seems like a really nice guy. But I think we are in for a long wait before the heads make it to production and enough are made so we can get our greasey hands on a set.

3 to 4 weeks
May 15 2007, 9:07 AM
I talked with Jay this time. He said that the changes had been made to the molds/tooling and that they were going to pour another set in a couple of weeks hopefully, 4weeks tops. The combustion chambers are 76 cc, there was some question a while back whether they would be the larger or smaller chamber. That is all for now until they do the next pour.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like they'll be an upgrade from my Doves so I'll be following them to see if they'll give me the extra Hp I need to run with the big dogs LOL!

July update
July 9 2007, 1:21 PM
Here's what I got from Mike at Eliminator products;
Alan,
>Thanks for the email, unfortunately the performance cast iron heads are
>not available yet. We are working on making changes to the cast iron
>replacement head tooling to make the performance heads. Although the
>replacement heads are working fine and available, however, there will have
>to be a water jacket change (difficult) in order to make the performance
>heads. Because of the issues with the water jacket, it is too early to
>put together pricing for the performance heads. Also, Jay is working on
>the chamber size... I would have to refer the question back to him!
>More should come to light in the next month or so.
>Thanks, Mike
and more;
Our 'as-cast' our flow numbers would be:
intake: 370cfm (400cfm ported) 2.25" valve
exhaust raised: 240cfm (255-260cfm ported) 1.72" tulip valve
Thanks, Mike
