And the Results...........

Well it started raining just a little at the start of the pull. Us street guys got through all of the Stock and Modified Stock with TEAM FRANKENSTEIN taking a 1st place spot at 267 feet. Track was sticky and I bounced pretty bad.

The show was put on hold for about an hour due to rain, before re-preping the track and re-starting everyone!! I got to pull twice which was very cool. My second attempt went 280 feet, smooth and nice, but only took second place this time. What I did different was just baby the throttle until about 100 feet then got into it. I was told by some old timer that my tires were WAY TOO AGGRESSIVE...

Video of the first pull was good.....but the second video was JACKED UP!! I'll get them both on here just as soon as I figure out how to do it again...

Looked and sounded good. Very bouncy on the first pass. You do have pretty aggressive tires but I know other parts of the country like them aggressive.

bounce

June 11 2007, 8:52 PM

looks good real good ground speed the bounce i dont think its the tires my opinon we have guys that run boggers and have no problem i would look into a stiffer shock maybe or less air pressure i not sure wat youre runnin now but i think of a ball it doesnt bounce that good with low air pressure can you run traction bars? if so go for it if not there is an old drag trick that we use when we ran stock class figure the way your axle wraps take a old set of leaf springs and cut them off about a inch or two in front of the center blot hole and stick in the middle or close to the bottom and the long side toward the front but it back together and paint back so no one notices if they do just say they broke of and you dont want replace them LOL it does work pretty good our truck never bounced evan with no weight in the front

re......Bounce

June 11 2007, 9:21 PM

I ran 15 pounds in front, and 25 in back after all. I agree, that I need to do something on the front. I think now that its the lift springs that are causing it. In previous posts, Shazaam said to put stock springs in front and let the bump stops hit or almost hit. I didn't want to do this because I didn't want the tires to eat the fenders!!!!! I am going to work on it though.

Also, one of the other guys thinks he's got a good video of the second pull, without bounce! If I get my hands on it I'll post it for you guys to look at. I think its all in the initial feathering of the clutch, and learning to drive with what you got. It was real smooth, and made me HAPPY!

Due to the bounce on the first pull you heard how I had to feather the throttle throughout the pull....On the second pull, I opened it up to about 6200 and it liked it! Yes, there is always something that can be changed, but that second pull is really helping me decide to drive further to get more pulls in this year!

front leafs

June 11 2007, 10:28 PM

Diesel
What size of lift springs are you running in the front? Could you pull a leaf out of the pack on each side? It may help some and still give you clearance.
We started with a 2.5" lift pack and dropped 2 leafs on each side. A stock set would have been nice but its what we had to work with.

i would wait for another pull before you get all hoped in changing your setup, after all it was very muddy. you did seem to have a killer pull after the track was better and you changed the way you pulled. but thats just what i would do i hate to change stuff around unless iv had the same problem after 2 or more pulls.

Leafs..

June 11 2007, 10:47 PM

Either way ought to be better than running the full 4" spring.

We have never had any bounce out of the truck with the current setup. Front tires are at 10lbs. Some swear by "gas" shocks vs "rancho" style lift shocks on the front as helping cure the issue.

We have 2 pulls this weekend. I'll see if I can get any video posted. We had a 2 pull weekend over Memorial. Truck ran well. 2nd the first day..by 1"! Then first on day 2 by 10ft. Had a good time and thats the important part.

re...changes

June 11 2007, 10:49 PM

There is talk of all the street guys chipping in and buying an old sled somewhere in TX, and fixing it up for a local association of sorts. We're gonna try to get a meeting scheduled with as many guys as possible to see about raising money for this project. How cool would that be!!!

I really hope I can find some better vid of the other pull for you guys...springs shouldn't be a very big obstacle to deal with.

Funn you say that

June 11 2007, 10:54 PM

We have been talking about the same thing. Building or getting a sled that we can use close to our area and more often.

Maybe some of the other guys on here will post up about doing this and putting on small local events.

sleds....

June 11 2007, 11:03 PM

It costs around 5 grand to get CTTPA's sled down here once a year!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure we could get an old P.O.S. for that much, and fix it up...

If anybody knows of one for sale close to CO...let me know.

re Results

June 13 2007, 7:52 AM

Well, the first run wasn't pretty, but the second run was much better (from what we could see LOL)You'll get it figured out. Tires are very much a regional thing, so run what works best for the majority of the tracks you run on.

BTW, I think you'd get another 20 feet if you'd get rid of that bowtie on the front and put a blue oval there. LOL! sorry I couldn't resis.
