Does anyone know if a 76 F250 Highboy with an automatic tranny has the divorced transfer case? I'm watching one in an online auction, but I'm only interested in it if the case is divorced.

Thanks
Alan

Digger and Travis nailed it. I actually think they made a change half way thru the 77 model year. But most certainly a 76 has the divorced tranny and transfer case. BUTTTT. One thing to watch thou and I had to let one go. Was a truck just like the one you are watching had a high range only transfer case.

Thanks for the tip. I'll pm the owner and check on that. From what I can see in the pictures, it looks to have hubs on the front axle, so that would indicate a 205 tcase unless someone swapped them in.
Actually, if I end up getting this, I'll keep the tcase and brackets and part out the rest. (hopefully I can get close to what I pay for it)

Forgot about that.

The one I looked at had the full time front end which had no lock out.

As for the change on years and t-cases I have a late production 77 with a divorced 205. The first married one I have seen was the 78 that was no longer a highboy.

Maybe

It had a little to do with the part of the country. I actually have had 2 late 77s that have the married Tranny and t-case.
If you have a LMC catalog look at the suspension section. They as well show the spring setup and T-case for 250s being the same from '77 thru '79.
Both of the trucks I have even had the older style grille and headlight buckets. Before they started using the one piece shell with the grille incert for the 78s and 79s.
One thing I have learned is that Ford did a bunch of crazy stuff and seemed to have change stuff without any rythem or reason.
