Loaded up the truck yesterday and headed down to Brazil, IN for my daughter's first pull as a driver. I still don't know who was more nervous me or her. Anyway because of her school/work schedule and my schedule, I didn't have a chance to let her drive it in the yard this past week, so I put her in the truck, and let her back it off the trailer, then started going over the controls and giving her instruction on what to if the truck bounces or starts drifting etc. After this, I let her and her boyfriend walk around for a while, before another review of the controls etc.
In the mean time, I decided to lower the idle a little so it wouldn't push on the brakes (fronts only) so much. This proved to be a mistake because when I hooked it to the sled, I jumped out and while she was getting in, the truck dies. No biggie, I helped her start it up again, but she didn't understand when I said to feather the throttle a little to keep it running, so it died again, then she started pumping the gas and flooded the motor. But I was finally able to get it lit again, and by now she was REALLY nervous, and before I could get away from the truck, she slapped it in drive and stood on it....All I can say is I haven't moved so quick in a long time... LOL At the end of the run, she bumped it to neutral like I instructed, and jumped out so I could get the truck off the track. She was still nerved up, but she thought it was awesome, and had a really good time. She ended up 6th out of 9 which wasn't bad at all for the first time.
Well, I just couldn't stand not being in the truck before the season ended, so I ran over and signed up for the 4x4 Pro Stock class. That was interesting since I hadn't pulled in super stock before and didn't know how to set the truck for it, so I just left it as is and hooked. All I can say is it is definitely a heavier sled! Ended up with a 4th place finish which was good enough to finish in the money (barely as they paid back 4 places)
Bottom line is the kid had fun and we got the truck home in one piece.
WOW...I don't know if I could do that! I would probably have an anxiety attack........

Thats pretty cool. I know the feeling with my son driving now. I found it is better to have some one else give him the pep talk after he has hooked to the sled. At our organization there is always a track official(usually it is a Pro-Stock puller) that will check to make sure you have your seat belt fastened and give you some words of encouragement.I guess that is what they are doing. But I'll let him talk my son through it if he screws up. I'll stand away .....until something breaks.

I was going to take the camcorder, but my wife took it to my other daughter's volleyball game. So no video, sorry but you'd have gotten a laugh from it.
Here's a picture of her getting ready, and another one after.

Man I wish we could have a video of you moving out of the way. LOL. Well it sounds like all went pretty good. I'm really proud of you and your girl, and it sounds like you had a lot of fun.
With the utmost of respect. You have a very pretty daughter, and I wouldn't trade places with you for nothing.
I'd be awake all night settin' traps to catch the young boys who was trying to sneak around.
PS. who is this CLUTCHDOCTOR ???
