How do you PRO'S feel about this idea for blocking rear suspension????
- Move the rear spring shackle forward to right above axle....
- Mount a heavy wall square tubing tri-angle to front spring mount, newly re-located rear spring mount, and to stock axle spring perch.
- Weld a bracket type of plate to corner of triangle, to utilize stock u-bolts to spring perch
- weld a single gusset from inside corner of triangle at axle to inside corner of triangle at front spring mount.
- BOLT a 1 1/2" piece of steel to frame above axle to weld the rear spring mount to.
In this way, you'll be totally solid.....but won't have to weld to frame at all. This setup shouldn't weigh any more than a traditional welded ladder type set-up.
Here's a couple pics of existing stock rear suspension....and a pic of my shabby drawing...

you would have to add some kind of support to the rear of the frame, unless your hitch is mounted right above your axle, which most of u guys are running anyway, and if u do use a rear mounted hitch it would be good for doin wheelstands

Yup, it's a replica of Shazaams hitch which is mounted right above axle.....This hitch alone, cured my bouncing.

One of our super stock guys ran a short ladder bar setup like that and the frame started to bend right in front of the mount. Why not apply the same principle only put the front mount where the cab and bed meet?

That is a great idea....and I still don't have to weld to the frame or axle...
Ray, Is that with Pocono Old Tyme and New Penn Jersey rules ??
Diesel, No problem w/spring wrap yet. Beefy 3" wide springs clamped front & back "Real Tight". I'm lucky if I have 400hp now, probably less, hopefully more soon.
I'll probably mount the 14 bolt SOLID.
