Tell me more about the guy and the Fairlane. I just think it is really cool that I was admiring the car on YouTube and you actually know who it was.
I was afraid that it had a chevy engine in it because it turned so hard.
You mentioned this guy was in a wheel chair.
There is a guy here that has been running a 6800lb modified truck that is in a chair as well. He has won the points championship here the last 2 years in a row and is now moving to a Bigger League. I think he is going to run the PPL this year with a new truck.
He started pulling with us in the street class many years back and just kept moving up. The 6800lb here can now run Alky and or a blower, 600 plus cid and have been running 2 stage NOS for years. They are the baddest of the bad here. It just goes to show with the right mind set nothing can hold you back except yourself.
Ive met him but dont know him well. They call the truck/car "Okified" and its rather fitting. Im not sure of the specs on the motor but according to others its a pretty potent 460 for the 4500lb class he runs. He and a close buddy are at almost all the pulls and the truck usually runs very well.
There are a few others that we pull with that are also examples like him..One is old rancher type with the use of only one arm but it doesnt slow him down. He does all his own work on his Ford and it consistently beats everyone in the 5500 and 6500 lbs class. It would make all the Ford owners on this board proud.
There is another young man with MS that everyone tries to help out. He is sharp mentally but doesnt have the motorskills to work on it. Everyone pitches together to work on his truck, paint it, drop in a new motor or dontate parts for him. In Reno, we bought him a new carb and installed it for him after his kept flooding so he could run too. Watching Chad run his truck makes your remember why you are doing it..its for the fun of it and the people you meet.
i agree with that last line 110 percent i remember one of the guys that pulls with us his wife works with the handicap and there was one kid his name was tony he had been in a chair all his life and he just loved the trucks, the noise, every thing that delt will pullin he past bout 4 year ago and we still pull in the same town every year on the same day in his memory. That first pull we did there was dedicated to him and his family, our prez. made a speech and donated all the proceeds to the family that day, you could look around and see some big burly guys wipe their eyes and every member of the club got together and donated their winnings that night to help pay for funeral
its not fun unless the wheels are off the ground

Both of your guys clubs has had the oppurtunity to do some great things for the folks in your areas, and I am sure it has been very satisfing for all that help out.It does nothing but good things for our sport when we can do things like that.
