Also, tell my again why you don't run uprights??? Rules or otherwise...?

Well the reason I don't run upright headers is I have these now. And we just changed the rules this year allowing upright headers in my class.
Also I've heard that upright headers on a gas motor actually hurts your horsepower numbers, Seeing the gasses we omit are heavier then air. Where with Alcohol those emission are lighter then air. But theres a few guys in the clubs that have switched to upright headers so I'll wait and see how the year goes .. more then likely I'll be building a new set of upright headers the fall for next season.

what kind of paint did you use

Paint I used was Rustoleum Gloss black on the frame and Rustoleum BBQ grill high heat Flat black on the headers.

The Rustoleum BBQ paint is what I use on my headers also. It stayed nice on mine right until the end of the season. I just put a new coat on them yesterday.
