What trucks are left in the Pro-Stock In the CTTPA? I was talking to the other Colorado Pullers group to find out if I could pull with them in Sturgis S.D. since I'm 15 minutes from there and really hard up for a pull that ain't 4 hours drive. They were saying some of the cttpa pro-stockers defected.
I don't know what I'd call it. There was a general disagreement on the future of the organization and we had a few members work with a diesel pickup group to start the National Sled Pullers Assoc. I know we lost one pro-stock pickup for sure (four at the most). Right now, we have five to six pickups. Don't know with fuel prices if they will all come to all events. There are another three that weren't going to be pulling in 2008 anyhow (finances, divorce, etc.) so I'm not counting those. I wish them well, and we still welcome them to pull with us as long as they still meet our current rules, which haven't changed since the change.
We are really refocusing our efforts on promoting pulls within our service area (NE, WY, CO, KS and NM) and finding we have a lot of interest. The only question mark is fuel pricing. For 2008, we only lost 2 pulls to NSPA, we had 1 pull not re-up due to finances, but we were able to sign three new ones to replace the lost pulls. I truly thing our groups have two completely different target markets and we'll both do fine this year.
Right now, the CTTPA is in a great place, both financially and "spiritually". We have an extremely dedicated member base, and we are working quite well with similar groups in Arizona, Texas and Idaho. In fact, we will have quite a following for the pull series the last week of July. I think we'll have a complete class of mini-rod tractors, even more econo-mod tractors from Arizona, and possibly some newcomers from Texas. We also have three new vehicles joining us this year, so I am very optimistic. Our group has made some wise financial decisions in the past, and we are doing just fine for money. Our new sled is almost paid off (YEAH!) and we have a great line-up of pulls this year. I'm working on a new street stock program that will be more attractive to promoters, and we are working on new promotional materials for fans. Both of these projects should have great paybacks for the 2009 season.
Hopefully, we'll see you in Mitchell. Let me know if I can be of any help!

Me, making it to Mitchell is looking real grim. A few guys here on the board laid a guilt trip on me for not having drive shaft loops, so I bit the bullit and am making them. What a bitch they are to make! I am really excited about pulling in Sturgis during the bike rally and am going to have to pull in the Pro=Stock class. I know I will get my ass kicked but they are not going to have any kind of a mod stock class.
I working on trying to be pro-stock ready for next weekend im like digger, things are getting grim putting upright headers in a 72 bodied 67 GM frame is kicking our ass. The headers are on but now we dont have a clutch or brakes. However i got the u-joint covers and made headway on the reverse light system and kill switch tonite, 4 nites and a half a day left to get it done. Thank gosh its just a 5 min drive down the road to the pull lol. Im not looking to be competitive, i figured since the cttpa lost alot of pro-stocks i just as well join.
Are you gonna hit any of the Northern CO stuff??? I should be able to hit everything from greeley and south. If I don't make Mitchell, I hope to see you at one of the others....
