Trouble with Math!!!

We ran last night on an awesome track in Hillsboro TN. Unfortunatly, the agritronics system was messed up on the sled so we had to use the old screwdriver and tape measure method, so here is how it shook down.

I was the second hook of the class and posted a 305.10 pull, a few more trucks pulled and one of teh heavy hitters in the class pulled 300, then another one was up and she went past the 300 cone on a run that was very strong then things got interesting, oh about 10 people had to help with that measurment and then it was called out. Well a few more ran and when the dust cleared another Ford had jumped out past 300 as well. So where did we finish???? After waithing and watching an interesting situation unfold at the announcers table with the people that measured the footage, I was informed that I needed to come to the announcers stand. So I get up there and they say we are all too close we needed to pulloff the 3 trucks.Well this put me in a tuff spot because on my lsst run it was pretty much the end for the clutch (Needs reshimed) so I argued about it and said that pulling is about inchs but, they either wanted a pull off or a 3 way tie. So it they split it 3 ways and I went home,

Guess its a good thing that school is starting back soon, maybe some of those guys at the end of the track can get a few lessons on reading a tape measure, so that want argue that its too close to call. I guess that means that they dont build there own engines if they are not any more precise than that. HA HA

Oh ya the next class only had 2 people running the tape.

I hope to have a video loaded soon.

Looking at those measurements it looks like you clearly won. 305.10 IS farther than 305.02. By my calculations you pulled 8 tenths of an inch farther. You gotta figure out how to get in the "Click". LOL

Sounds like.

You really laid a good pass down for them ! Way to go. The truck must be working pretty good for you. What tires did you try this time ??
As far as the measurement deal. That is pitiful ! Most pulls these days it is getting down to inches. Alot of the time here the top 5 trucks will all be within a couple feet of each other and over the last couple years I have been knocked out of the money because of a few inches several times.
Hope they split 1st thru 3rd place money with you.

With in inches heck

We measure the pulls up here to the 100th of a foot.
At Denmark I placed 5th with a distance of 285.80 but the 2 trucks behind me for 6th and 7th place where 285.60 and 285.40 and then the trucks that placed 8th and 9th where 283.11 and 283.10 Now you may think those are inches on the back side but it's 100's of a foot.

20 100's of a foot is about ||||||||||||||||||||| this much.

And 1 100's of a foot is || that much.

I ran the BFGs for this pull, I knew going in that it was a power track so the bigger tires would have killed the motor, and probably the rear end as well. One of the issues with the bigger tires is that the axles dont seem to like them very much. 2 runs with them one very impressive win one 4th out of 5 with a shattered axle. The verdict is still out for this weekend because I know that 90% of the time its a loose track, we are actually going back to the track that I won on earlier this year with the BFGs, but everyone is alot better now than they were then

It is the Eaton H72 I think that is what its called. Anyway the old pumpkin style rear. That was actually the first axle that I have ever killed with that rear in 4 yrs. Alot better than the sterling ever did and I dont want to talk about a dana 60 rear
Why do you ask?

Lately.

We have been talking alot about breakage and what rearends everyone is running and you mentioned you had broken and axle. I can tell your truck is laying it down pretty good and wondered what you had under there that was taken your HP.
I'm running a 10.25 sterling with 4:10 gears. I haven't had the best of luck with it. But this year hasn't been so bad for it so far.
I'm going to have to come up with something over the winter to upgrade the rearend of my truck.

One of the biggest reasons I ran that rear was because of how light it is without the brakes on it it is a very light rearend that stands up to some abuse. Not anything like a Dana 80 but alot. If you are wanting to go with an 80 consider the Eaton HD110 like alan is running if rules will alow. Without the brakes on them they seem to be a light rear for the strength you are getting in comparison to the Dana 80 they may be even lighter. I beleive there was several posts about this over the winter. Oh and thanks for the compliment on the truck right now it is hooking very well.
