Since Mitchell is only a month away, I figure I better find out what I need to know... Are they running Stock Pickups before the CTTPA... what's the weight class or classes and can I run weights off the front or still in the bed? Let me know if there is anything else important I need to know. Thanks.
According to the Cttpa schedule there is going to be Stock Truck Pulls in Mitchell. In the past there were 3 different stock classes. Stock, Modified Stock(6200#) and a Heavy class which were mostly diesels. So if you want to pull and have hanging weights in the front you will have to pull in the Modified stock. Almost anything goes in that class. Except maybe non-DOT tires.
X2 with Digger. I think last year though they droped street mod class and combined the two into just one gas class with two weight divisions. If you got headers better get them unhooked, anything goes like diggers sez.
For sure my brother will be in your class running the same engine, clutch from FROSTBITE last year only with new heads. As for Frostbite...got my fingers crossed hoping it will be done in time. Got travis working on a new clutch. 4 and a half weeks to go...
Shazam, what classes are going to be at the Rosholt pull?--it is only like 15 minutes from the house--thanks aj

Well I guess Big would be the one that makes it undrivable on the street.
Because it's this rule that really make the class.
Vehicle must be licensed and registered and you must show proof upon request.
Vehicle cannot be trailered to the event.

Dont count on it starting when its says, but i found it never hurts to be early at a cttpa event.Frostbite has a new new engine sitting in between its rails (with very little room to spare) now so it looks like a good chance we will make it.

Looks like that link is for 2008 information. The date shows the 21st of June. Might want to double check that to make sure...
i'll tell ya....... i had these jetskis in my barn for the last 7 years, and had yet to ride them...... decided to pull them out..... after moving several 42" tractor tires..... and took them to the lake..... yeah yeah.. had em for 7 years, and actually have never ridden them or any for that matter...... i had the time of my life.... much more fun then sitting in the hot sun, unloading, waiting my turn, getting stared down by those who can't beat me, load, drive home tired, dirty, with a net loss for the day, then jumping in the pickup 20 bucks for gas, a day full of fun, 2 minutes to load drive home, and good memories and good people....... I THINK I'VE FOUND A NEW FAVORITE HOBBY...... i have a hunch what is going in the barn behind all those 400 lbs tractor tires now.. he he he

Had fun with the jet skis, too. However, wish I had stuck around to see Sean fall off. After three days of camping while dodging storms, the family was ready to head home.
I'll have to agree with Sean right now... its been SOOO nice not to have to worry about getting anything ready for this weekend. Wife likes that, too.
Thats funny...While i was waiting for the engine to get done i started restoring my great grandparents 16ft runabout boat. Took it out of the weeds gutted it completely, power washed the inside. Then moved to the 50hp evinrude, rebuilt the carbs tuned it up. After 20 years of sitting on the trailer, i started it up... puffed out some crap out of the exhuast then started running like a champ. Then i layed down some new carpet and installled new seats. Shes now sitting ready for her maiden voyage. Anyway Sounds like you all had fun.
Was priceless seeing Sean doing the "sleddoggy" paddle over to the ski then looking like a "monkey humping a football" trying to get back on the thing. However, I wonder if I am the kettle or maybe the pot.
i never could get the job done....... my football must be plugged....... but when you were humpin the football, i think you accomplished your goal...... what is the gestation on a football anyway?.... lol

Sounds like Sonya and I need to come out for another vacation.
Hey Billie... I just read on CTTPA's site that they are running 2 gas stock classes, one less than 6000 and one for over. Are we not able to hang weights or am I just confused? Have you heard anything?
digger460 (no login) 208.53.246.77
not billie... whoever that is?.. but I've been there

always go prepared to hang or remove weights when you get there. Rules can change when your running in the stock or mod. stock class at the drop of a hat.. Also you should make your suspension solid in the rear. But again, make it so it can be removed.
This is interesting!!! Im likin how for the first time ever the cttpa is acting like the stock guys are apart of there show lol. About time, even the past years radio adds and flyers say local street guys pull at five and the cttpa pulls at 7. This year on the radio they say the cttpa pull starts at 6 and didnt say a word about "local guys".
I actually like that to be honest, doesnt make the local street guys feel so low and insignificant.
Ahh crap forgot about the c-collar i better get one ordered over nite and pray that my custom headers get done too.
X2 with digger, im sure they are going to let the "street" guys run weights out front and blocked suspen. But i say that because its been relatively uniforced the last 3 years but there has been years where they cracked down on whats "stock" and isnt.
But i am going to say this, it kinda torques me off but 75% of the "Street" trucks that pull in mitchell are in fact built just for truck pulling most will have weight bars and blocked rears and open headers and a few run more cubes then the cttpa even allow in there pro-stock class.
But its all worth it even if you dont pull well, because its kinda a rush (at least to me) pulling in front of a near sell out crowd that mitchell normally has.
it is NOT a cttpa event, the promoter..... scottsbluff county fair i'm assuming.... runs the non-sanctioned events.... doug, you know this, it's been explained to you time and time again...... the rules are set up by the promoter, and do not change at the drop of a hat...... if you are unsure of the rules, contact the promoter, and they will tell you what they want, simple as that..... mitchell has always allowed hanging weights, and probably always will...... hemmingford is the only one i can remember that didn't allow hanging weights and because they were paying to put on the show, they have every right to do as they please. keep in mind, the street stock is design for local people to come to the show and have fun..... not that you can't drive 4 hours and compete, but it's intended for local people, and honestly, if i were spending 10 grand to put on a show..... my street stock would be directed towards my local people that sponsered the pull in the first place.

i know, its just the way its worded on the cttpa website make it act the cttpa is putting on the street events when they really are not.
if you like how the advertisements 'included' the local guys without separating them.... make sure you tell the promoters, cttpa has nothing to do with the radio adds or any other advertisement for that matter. keep in mind, when a promoter does something you like, make sure you tell them, they love knowing when they are appreciated.

Olchev...

I still would go with removeable weights. And removable rear suspension blocks.
fine, that's not a bad idea..... but let me tell you something....... your comments are very pointed, and if you want to make friends, you're going about it all wrong IMO.
