Yes. If you go to Summitracing.com and search for harmonic balancer then filter to ford 460's you will see balancers that work with both internal and external.
Alan is playing with ya there Digger ... The 460 is the only motor that I know of that uses a neutral balance balancer for all there motors. They make up the differants in the hatch weight for the external balance crank.

Actually I was just repeating what I saw. The link I posted shows balancers that specify internal, then some that say internal/external and some that say neutral.
When I switched mine to internal, we cut the hatchet off, then trued it up on a lathe to keep the spacer then used the same balancer.

OK I now see that the ATI balancers have there own Spacer. All the others use the Ford spacer or Hatch weight.
Sorry I thought Alan was playing with ya ....

Does anyone use a hammer to tap the balancer on or is it a must to use some special tool? In the past I've always used a hammer to get the balancer started and then pulled it the rest of the way on with the bolt.

I have used a hammer with a block of wood, then the bolt.

I wouldn't recomend putting it on with a hammer there is a tool that is used to put it on. This makes the balancer go on straight and not wreck anything when you hit it with a hammer you could damage it or throw it off balance

If you don't want to buy the installation tool take a piece of all thread and put it into the crank end then use a nut and wash on that to push the balancer on to the crank, works much better than using a hammer.
