Rules say " DRAWBARS CANNOT BE SHORTER OR HIGHER THAN THE SPECIFICATIONS LISTED BELOW. DRAWBARS LENGTHS ARE MEASURED FROM THE CENTER OF THE REAR WHEELS TO THE POINT OF HOOK."
height - 20"
length - 27% of wheelbase
My trucks wheelbase is 121" so that gives me 32". So according to the rules I could make the drawbar anything over 32", yes?? But the 20" height I don't get.
it is a measurement from where the hook contacts the hitch ...... typically the top inside of the back of the hole....... measured vertically to the ground.... the ground is to be a flat surface, ideally graded, but not always......... keep in mind when creating this device, you should have your tire pressure at competition pressure to be accurate.

When building a hitch. Is it better to build it minumum length? If I build mine min. length its going to end up quite aways under the truck bed.
yes you can..... the keep it as short as possible.

many associtiaons qualify the hitch rule (usually hidden in the general rules not the class rules)by saying that no matter the hitch calculation, the hitch must be the rearmost part of the truck so you can't tuck it in under the back of the truck
