Hey guys, I spent the whole weekend making a hitch for my old ford. I installed the sterling axle last week. I got it loaded up and ready to go to the sandblaster tomorrow. I know that the hitch angle should be closer to 30 degrees for the sleds we use around here, but I already had installed a big crossmember above the axle centerline for blocking the suspension when I can get away with it. I decided to use it to anchor the hitch too. I built a receiver into the hitch because this is a street truck/toy, and not a dedicated puller. I have to add a crossmember between the rear spring perches, but I will do that later. I also need to fab some brackets to attach the receiver tube to the rod end. I tried to make it strong enough without being overly heavy. Hopefully it doesn't come apart on the first pull and cause great shame on my family lol. Those rod ends are big and forged, so I hope they will hold up. I guess we'll see. Any body have any last minute suggestions? I'm not a pro fabricator by any means, so I can take constructive criticism.

OK from what I see you had the perfect opportunity to build any kind a hitch you wanted. That hitch there is not the hitch you want.
Now I'm not saying my design is better then anyone else's. but I know it plants the ass of my truck better then my old hitch.

You should have mounted your main pivot point on top of that square tubing you have mounted on the truck. Then for your receiver part of the hitch I'd had that at your 30 Dreg. angle you mentioned or what your rules read. My adjuster heads down to the rear end housing but I have seen them go to the rear of the frame up like you have there.

My suggestion is to rework the hitch before you have it sand blasted, it will look better in the long run.

Jared,you should have the adjustable bar at the end of your hitch be able to pivot in and out at least 8" just weld two flat plates on top of your hitch out side of your adjusting bar, with holes in it for load adjustments on your receiver, thats what will load the back and or front of your truck. Looks good nice and light.
