If you guys were to build a 460 for the street stock class, what would be your build ideas? Next summer Im going to start putting one together and was wondering what you would suggest. Only engine rules are production block, iron heads, iron intake, one carb. Anything else goes.

cubic inch limit?

460 block, they're all gonna work

stock crank if you need to stay under 470... otherwise a forged eagle crank of varied cubic inch

CJ heads with port work from brett powell

solid roller cam package...... lifters springs etc.

14:1 domed pistons with a fire groove cut in the dome for quench factor

zero deck

4 bolt main if it gives you wood, but probably not needed.

no opinion on the intake..... but pry a scj intake since you have to stay iron

just my $0.02.... back off from there for budget concerns

i wont be competing with you Alan so no worries. has to run on pump gas also forgot to mention that. There isnt any cubic inch limits. I was thinking of building one with high compression and running e85 in it. Is it worth the money to go into the 500's ci with a scat stroker they seem reasonable at 1300 for forged pistons and rods. cast crank wouldnt be a problem at those levels would it? What heads would u run? I know the cobra jets are prefered. The problem I see is flowing enough air through the iron intake.

i think.......

i think i read somewhere that e85 is around 106 octane.... so 12:1 should be a good number for you..... i suppose some work could be done to the intake just as is done to heads.... have to talk to a porter for that info... as far as a stroker......getieup.... go big..... might as well do forged, i don't believe it's a huge cost difference, and it just adds more strength....... with proper porting, c9 or dove heads perform quite well and are more plentiful. hope this helps
