Could I get the expert opinion on how to set up a fuel system? I ve got a 466, C9VE heads (mild port work), 11.5:1, 850 demon. I want to run an electric pump and will have about a 5 gal spun aluminum fuel tank in the bed of the truck. My questions:
-3/8 or 1/2 lines?
-What type of lines?
-What pump (size & make)?
-Return line or not?
-Where to mount the pump?
-Where to mount the reg?
-Filter type and mounting location?
-Best way to power the pump (on with the switch or sperate switch)?
My fuel system may not be the best in the world but it is simple cheap and has worked for alot of years without any trouble. Holley blue pump mounted to the frame under the tank. 1/2" rubber fuel hose from the tank with a 1/2" inline WIx filter before the pump. The same rubber hose run along the inside of the frame to the firewall where the regulator is mounted. I don't have a return. For power mine is wired into the ignition switch. This way you don't have to worry about forgetting to turn the fuel on and it will be shut off if the kill switch is pulled.
Thanks Dennis! Could I just buy your truck and be done with this damn headache? Getting tired of sitting on the sideline watching. LOL!!!

I better not sell it. LOL!!! I've got two kids that are about old enough to start pulling. My daughter is 14 and she wanted to drive it a couple weeks ago.She moves it around the house and washes it now I think I'll let her try in about another year. My wife has also been pulling some and doing a good job. I think I'm gonna let her pull full time next year with one of the three clubs that I pull with.

Havin run just about every kinda fuel system one can imagine, over the years, here is what I would do, and is what is on my truck at the moment as we have found that it flat out works with zero fuel supply issues
A1000 or similar type electric fuel pump - wired in with a relay, so that your not runnin 12v supply to a switch of any kind thereby losin voltage and amperage (Holley anything is junk)
#AN10 or #AN12 (mine are AN12) from the tank to the pump.
From the pump to a good bypass regulator with AN10 or AN8 lines (mine are AN10)
From the bypass regulator, use a #6 an return line and from the regulator to the carb use two #AN6 lines
Pump will make 50 psi, and 200gph
Regulated to 7.5 psi at the carbs
Buy the enlarged carb (.140 or .150 if memory serves) inlet seats for more flow
Keep your floats just on the high side
Remove your power valves and jet up 6-8 sizes
this will give you a fool proof and worry proof fuel system from tank to carb
I have a holley HP150 pump with-8 lines feeding it. It has the recommended fuel filter in front of the pump, and -6 lines from the regulator to the carb. It works well with my with my 472/dove combo.
