i run truxus sts tires 33x12.50x16.i am buying new rims this year and would like to lay the tread flat how wide of a rim would you recomend?they are on 10" now and i would like them flatter.thanks in advanced
the rule of thumb in the tire industry is that the rim should be within 1" of the tread width
A 12:50 tire is usually just around 10" tread face so a 10" rim is perfect
They dont make 11" wide rims so 12" would be your next step up and is now at least 1" too wide
If yuor tire isnt sitting flat on that 10" rim you have too much air, and if your talkin rear tires where you need like 40-50 psi pressure a wider rim is not gonna make the tire sit flat under that kinda pressure - matter of fact with the sidewalls pushed out so bad on the wider rim it will actually cup the face of the tire in most instances when under power so your more likely to lose traction rather than gain some
on the main page if you look at silver bullet 2 and eliminator, there tires are sitting the way i was trying to achive,is that bad? right now i can air down to 30 psi in rear befor they start to cup in the middle at the end of the track.the fronts have been down to 25 and not cupped in the center, when i spin out the tracks are still deeper in the center.

I run 33 x 12.5 x 15 TrXus'. I switched over to 12" rims prior to this season and saw great results. The truck hooked hard which could be factors of other things too, but the tires definately worked. I was running 40 PSI in the rear and 15 in the front. Keep in mind the sidewall rating on a 15 and 16 are quite a bit different. Maybe they just worked with my setup??
