About a month ago there was an ad on racing junk for somone who made second and third gears for a sm465 i called the guy and talked to him but now i cant find the ad or phone i believe he was in wisconsin> Does anyone know his name or number it was not pro fab this guy make cut third gears or secong gear that will work good with 5.38 gears and you can make a two speed also if you want.
His home number is 320-864-3831. If he dont answer keep trying.lol.. Its easier for me to drive there. 15min away... There is a couple differances in gears and they do look very nice... You would be pleased with them.
I have met him before. He is a character... I know someone that is running his stuff and he seemed to do OK with it. 3rd in light class and 2nd in heavy class with the NPPA.

If a guy were to go into competition building gears for OEM transmissions why not do a Borg T-18 or 19 or maybe a NP 435? What's with competing on the same 465 transmission?

Brett my guess is the guy runs a chevy and he was trying to save some money over a profab kit.
But I agree, it would be nice to see some options for the 435 or T18/T19.
Yea he is a character.. I see almost everyday. I will mention that other tranny to him and get burr up his butt to see what he can do.. Yes he is a chevy guy.
I am a machinist and recently tore apart my np435 and i figured all the ratios and diameter of gears and so forth to make it a three but you would also need to make a new lower shaft and since i would be making one off stuff it is just cheaper to get the stuff for the sm465 thanks for the guys phone number.

Why make it a 3spd? A 3rd gear kit would be good. That would give 2 usable gears for pulling.
i was wanting ro get away from the 4.10 gears so that would only leave third gear and you would still have to get a different lower shaft because the np435 all the gears are made on the lower shaft you can not remove them.

i would love to have a gear set for a 435 or t 18 ! that would be nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it would also save ford guys some $ ! i could sell 3 or 4 right now !!!! someone out there could make this happen !!
I haven't personally tore them apart. but the reason no one makes a kit for the 435 is because it does not have removable gears on the counter shaft like the 465. so you would have to make the entire lower shaft.
I was watching extreme 4x4 on Spike TV a few weeks back and they where making a rock crawler out of a Jeep Scrambler. and to get the low low range they needed they put two transfer cases together with this doubler kit to get a 4 to 1 low range.
Now I know the output shaft would still be the weak point but wouldn't you be able to use 3rd and 4th gear with 4.11 or 4.56 gears in the rear end?

You must have to call them because their website doesn't mention this option.
I called liberty gears and they do the third gear he wasnt for sure on the ratios he said it was custom for each individual. It cost 1075

SM-465

Them Liberty gears are they for the sm-465 or the 435 and are the gears part of the lowwer shaft or is removable, like the ones we make cuz with my gears if you would brake a tooth off the gear you don't have the whole cost, as if the lowwer gear is fixed on the shaft
I will look in to making this gears for the 435 if i could get some in put from you guys what your looking for and what axle gears you would like to run and power you plan on put in to the trans.
The gears that we make are in trucks run HP from 780 all the way up to 1000+ and no broken gears just all good feed back from the guys that are running them.
these are the gears we make for 2nd or 3rd
2.44
2.52
2.62
2.71
2.82
2.91
3.05
3.15
3.25
3.35
If you would do a 2nd gear then you have to replace the lowwer shaft
That was for the np435 and they was not removable like you said if you tear it up you will have to pay for everyhting again

The ratios you have for the Chevy would be the way to set it up, probably simpler too. After all... we have the same ratio transfer case and axle options available as GM. Except on stock Ford front axles the low gear limit is 5.38. I'd suggest using either the NP435 or Borg Warner T18(more available than the T19. Make the lower cluster use a separate shaft and gears so it would be stronger and easier to repair.
You make them and they WILL sell. Advertise on Racing Junk, PullOff, here and .etc
The problem with making the lower shaft with different gears is you start to get in to stuff like reverse and the front gear that drives off the input shaft would all haver to be made or modified. I would like to run a chevy but i will not run a divorce case so that means i will have to have an adapter made for the transfercase or put a chevy front axle i would like to find someone who can make gears and just modify my bottom shaft and make a two speed out of and np 435.
if i remember right, a fellow competotor of mine ran a chevy tranny or a ford tranny. With the t-case bolted UPSIDE DOWN.... Now i cant remember exactly whaich way it was. Might be somthing to check into. It was a married set up..

i agree with brett, they will sell ! i would like a 3.40 gear also, but the ratios listed would be great ! what would we have to do to get this done ?

Hey Rick,I would of liked to put them gears to the test this year what do ya think? LOL!
There is a monster output shaft made for the 205 Transfer case. It is enormous and comes with a whole new bearing retainer. I currently am running one on one of my trucks and it has never had a problem yet. A guy here in Wisconsin makes them, if anyone is interested Ill get his information and prices, etc. Is anyone else having problems with the input shaft on their NP435 or T-18. I have rolled the splines on both trannies input shafts and I completely tore the gears off of the input shaft on the T-18. Well let me know, and it would be sweet to get some gears to put in a T-18 or NP435. If there is some out there I'd be interested.

I have twisted the input off the T-18 and the lower gear cluster will not make a season for me without taking the teeth off it.
Does anyone make a bigger input shaft for the T-18 or 435? Id like to switch it to 1-3/8th 10 spline like the 465 kit does if possible.

After twisting off my first T18 input I put a large 1-3/8 input in mine(and yes they are available for both). Anyway, did not make a season and tore up the cluster in the bottom which in turn riuned most of the rest of the transmission.
Where can i find a 1 3/8 input for the sm 465 tranny without having to go with a profab kit? is there such a thing?

i dont know a 1 3/8 shaft but in the c-60 truck trans there is an1 1/2 that gets used allot,it will go in the 465,you will need the bearing retainer and fork.

And I'm looking at this for my street truck Riggs. LOL I can go with either a 2.72 low or a 1.96 low range, so that's why I'm looking at second or third. Either one will let me use this transmission on the street plus the occasional pull.
