205 output shafts

I'm thinking about making some 205 output shafts.
Heres a list of upgrades over the stock
1. No holes or slots
2. Use a standard od bushing instead of the needle bearing
3. Larger output spline and shaft dia.

Be in the $500 range
Is there a market?

Thanks
Cory

If you build them... they will sell.... I would possibly take a couple of them. Which Yolk would you use... 14bolt, AAM, dana 80..????

I started laying this out the other day and here is what i came up with.

1. low range only as there wont be bearings inside the low gear.
2. 1 3/4 10 spline output
3. output housing will need bored for larger bearings.
4. caged needle roller bearing for pilot.
5. custom billet output retainer

hopefully finish the design this weekend and have some pictures

Here is a pic of the stock shaft vs the new shaft.

The new shafts are 3x stronger than the stock one by design alone.
Material will also be superior and add another 10-20%

Final prices are in.

$500 for a shaft
$750 for an output assembly with a $100 core

Assembly includes shaft, low gear, bearings, inner race for pilot bearing, machined housing, and billet bearing retainer. All that you will need is a yoke and seal to match.

Thanks

1.75 10 spline shaft.

1410 would use a 3-4-1841-1 yoke and a 416271 national seal.

Corey,
That stuff looks great. Any idea on what the price of the new yoke cost? What is your time line from order date to ship date ??? Thanks for going to the trouble of offering us guys some good 100% made in USA parts.

Quick search on the net puts yokes at $66 a piece.

Working on a delivery timeline should have a date by the end of the week.

Thanks

The first batch of shafts will be done mid june.

They will still allow for high range and 2wd usage just like the factory piece.

Cost adds up quick when you look at it

Mat'l
Turn
Hob
Heat treat
Grind
Bearings
bushing for low gear
bearing retainer
Hardware
Machine output housing.

After the first batch is done the price may be adjusted.

Thanks

They are made of from 4121.

There is around 8hrs of machine time per piece

I ground the the first batch yesterday. Waiting to get the Inner races back from heat treat to hone and grind.
Then all that's left is to machine the output housing for the new bearings.

Jeremy

I currently do not have any Chevy assemblies so I would need one for a core to machine. Give me a call in the evenings and we can discuss.

Thanks
