- can I battery-operate the layout? .Not only trains (no speed control required) but also the switch to the hidden track and the rest of the automation - I think that means I need both AC and DC?
I just read on the Yahoo! z_scale group that it is possible to operate the turnouts with 9 volt DC, so I had to try it for my self. And it worked perfectly... I also tested with 7.5 volt, but then it would not work. So you might have a problem when the battery gets low.
