I didn't use cork in the coffee table layout because I didn't think it would be nesecary, but when the tracks are glued and ballasted, a lot of noice from the running trains is beeing transfered to the plywood.
Because of that I descided to use cork on the new layout. But cork is not the most noice reducing material. But it is firm an easy to work with.
