If you are in need of a (durable and affordable) portable upholstery and spotting extractor, check out the new Gecko. It's a sweet machine and the price can't be beat at $375.
I have the same machine, one of the best investments I have made - I clean a lot of furniture with it, and take it with me do do some spotting jobs, good $$ to be made in a short period of time! I cleaned over a hundred pieces of furniture in a large hotel with it once!! (Ah, the good ol' days...)
My question is: Can you sell me a new clear wand for it? Mine cracked a few weeks back, and I was ready to order it from another supplier until I saw your post...I'd rather order it from you.
The rest of the hose, etc. is ok, just the clear plastic wand is broken...

Joe,
We can get you a new wand. Not a problem.
BTW, I have a couple of other upholstery tools... a very nice PMF quick drying upholstery tool, and also a so called "deluxe" tool by Windsor. And I honestly enjoy using these lightweight plastic tools better. They seem to put out a very even flow, and I love the way you can see exactly what you're extracting. And they're very light, and comfortable to work with.
Give us a call tomorrow Joe, and we can get one heading your way.

The only thing I do not like is the plastic tool, the jet looks like an external jet. After using an internal jet and a enclosed jet external ones make too much of a mess for me.
You'd be surprised. My PMF tool has an enclosed jet. Yet the plastic tool does respectably well by comparison. They've got pretty decent control of the spray pattern. Better than you'd expect.
I have a version of this machine that was sold under a different name, but is the exact same rotomolded body anyhow. Not sure if the internals would be the same or different? I haven't been too happy with mine, the internal fittings were all cheap plastic and not clamped well and keep coming off. I can't get my hands in there well enough to get them clamped tighter. Probably an easy way to disassemble the think if I knew what I was doing.
If I could get mine fixed it would be a nice upgrade to get one of these better upholstery wands.
I have the the 4" kleenrite upholstry tool. Works great, no mess, but wouldn't use it with nothing else other than my Kleenrite Sphere spotter machine with heat-exchanger. 4 gallon tank, detach recovery tank for easy dumping.
A little more money then the gekco but lot more bang for my bucks!

Grant,
I just got off the horn with the manufacturer of the machines.
It sounds like you're having a problem with the pressure hose not staying attached (blowing off) inside the machine. There is a very simple fix: (1) I can walk you through how to fix the condition over the phone. It'll take you about 2 minutes to fix it. (2) I can also get you a replacement hose and the two retaining clips. Either way, let's get this taken care of so that you can put this baby to work.
Thanks for the info Rick, last time I used an external jet was about 10 years ago and I bet progress has been made in reguards to over spray or fabric bounce of the spray.
I thought I owned a very expensive table once to to over spraying (years ago) and never used one again.

David,
Don't get me wrong. There is definitely "some" over-spray, yet it's very manageable. At least that's what I've always found with these light plastic wands. They're basic as can be, but they do a decent job. They're super easy to work with --- that's what I appreciate about them. They're just plain and simple lightweight tools.
On a large job a few months ago (about 200 chairs), we had two extractors going. We had an enclosed tool and a plastic tool. The plastic tool ran circles around the enclosed tool. The enclosed tool was just too cumbersome compared to the lightweight plastic tool. When it comes to commercial upholstery jobs you really need to move FAST. I honestly think the plastic tools have a solid edge when it comes to doing production upholstery cleaning.
Thanks Rick have to agree with you about doing commercial UPH
When possible I like transferring large UPH jobs to the shop ( (especially expensive stuff) or into and area I can spray about 25 to 50 at a whack. I tend to favor my internal jet tool the one posted for these jobs, wish they would make a plastic enclosed jet like the do for the internal jetted tools.
Great price on the spotting machine Less then a Dry Master tool
Thanks Rick. Got an email from the manufacturer. My machine is out of warranty but they offered to find me a local place that can fix it for me. Should take somebody who knows what they are doing about 10 minutes.
