I just remembered a few days ago I was looking at a transcript of a Kristin chat from E!, and someone mentioned her friend was working on Who's Your Daddy. And it just struck me that so many people are involved in making a TV show, from secretaries to make up people to costumers to the guys who rig up the lights, and none of them are ever going to be blamed for what happens on the show. And of course, they shouldn't be. Everybody understands that if you want to do lighting as a career, and you get hired, you're going to go work for that show regardless of what it is and how you feel about it, whether or not you'd watch it yourself, and that doesn't mean you endorse or are in any way responsible for the show's content, you're in a morally neutral position. Nobody's going to blame the wardrobe mistress for not taking some kind of stand and refusing to work on a show and letting the job go to someone else. Why the on-air people should be held to a higher standard than the crew, I don't get, and this is the first time I've ever heard about it. So many people have problems with reality shows, but who has ever even thought of blaming the host because they're offended by the idea of the show? This just really astounds me. Yes, they may get paid more, but that doesn't mean they have any more input into what happens on the screen. As far as I know, the crew, the talent, even the writers ultimately answer to the producers, who answer to the network.
