RE: How Do I look Episode #45 (Ashley)

Cheers to Finola for being the voice of reason on this episode and diffusing what could have been a tough situation. As a designer/artist, I find it really, really hard to watch people try to shape young, aspiring artists/designers into what they expect them to be. The 'friends' mother wanted this young lady to be just like her daughter: boring, typical, plain cheerleading type. The mom wanted her to be the same thing: a cookie-cutter stereotypical girl. When will 'grownups' realize that boring isn't always better and that just because something looks perfect, happy and shining, that doesnt always make it so.
Thank God that I had parents who encouraged me while I was growing up to express myself and be who I was. As a result, I have a successful career as a designer, I'm doing what I love...it's like I don't even have a job because i love what I do.
Shame on these narrow-minded people for trying to shape young, aspiring artists into what they think they should be...you're snuffing out the next generation of potential brilliant designers. As kids grow, ENCOURAGE them. COMPLIMENT them. Let them flourish. Shame on the mom for not encouraging her daughter to be creative, productive and happy as someone who enjoys being different. Different isn't bad.
I think Finola SAVED the day...she took both sides and helped them meet in the middle. Honestly, she may have not only saved the day, she may have saved that young girl from becoming a boring, typical adult.
It could have been a bad situation; Finola is my new favorite TV personality...she's not just selling a show, she's encouraging people, she's a great mediator and (oh yeah) she's gorgeous.
I think she is one of the few people who REALLY do deserve a talk show. Let's see it!
