Tried posting this response under your comments... Do comments on this site get 'vetted' if they are a little bit controversial? Here goes, anyway.
I can't understand what the problem is with some young lad or lads catching fish 'under the bridge' at Steam Mills. I had always thought the idea of fishing was to catch fish. If they are under the bridge, go for it, I say!
If the idea is to make life hard, why are these commercial pools (often no more than overstocked farm ponds) so successful? I can't understand why there is an issue (mentioned before on this site last year) about lads catching 'easy' fish. Perhaps I'm missing something.
