The booster club is vehemently against having their own Chat Board, and they're also vehemently against getting involved in these chat boards -- save for the once or twice a year that a EB Member (like Mike House) is basically dragged kicking and screaming here to defend something that's been blown way out of proportion.
Threads like the ones below should serve as notice (proof) that the Booster Club needs to open up it's own message board, with posting access granted only to Booster Club Members. Further, the BC should end it's stance of not working with the current chat boards, and come up with a new relationship with the BMs to institute a policy whereby all BC Related threads are removed from the public boards and the users re-directed to the proper BC chat forum.
This would keep our 2 fan forums clean and clear of the Booster Club bickering and garbage and let them serve their actual purpose -- which is to talk about Silvertips Hockey. It would also give the booster club EB and Membership their own place to discuss, gripe, bitch, and slap each other around privately and in an environment where there are no anonymous posts, where discussions of BC Matters can be discussed by BC Members only.
Let's do what we should have done 2 years ago, and get the BC their own, private forum!
"I hereby make a motion that the Booster Club should setup their own, private online forum for the purposes of discussing booster club matters over the internet. Access to reading and posting in this forum should be restricted to active Booster Club Members only, with all posters being required to supply their name and/or membership ID number. Further, Booster Club members that post Booster Club related information or topics on any other chat board will have their membership status under review"
Discussion and dialogue are good, when conducted openly and honestly. I encourage everybody posting here and on other boards to always use their real name or their regular 'handle' whenever they post. These anonymous personal attacks are ridiculous - and they fly in every direction. Show some respect (please); there is nothing wrong with fans expressing differing opinions. But why blast an anonymous post anonymously?
PS: the best way to keep Trolls away from our boards is for us to NOT crash the boards of other teams with malicious insults or misdirected brags. The Everett Silvertips is a great team, a great facility, a great staff, and many great fans. Let's behave accordingly!
There are like 10 silvertips fan forums. I vote we have one for everything and not create another one and that the only posts deleted are those that stray off the topic of hockey or contain name calling. Since that seems to be how this forum is moderated suggest we use this one.
No forums or twenty forums - this is no haven for intellectual discourse. We all look like idiots no matter what. The whole human race does. You and me included. Read the paper lately? Ever listen to Bush make a speech?
that the people that are bitching won't come forward. If they were required to post using their name on a booster club board they wouldn't do it. They are too big of cowards to come forward and actually speak openly USING THEIR NAMES.
They are coming forward with their questions. And for expressing their concerns you call them cowards? No wonder they don't want to give you their names.
They vaguely ask about some woman that was at some meeting? So? What about it? Yes they are cowards. If they have a concern they should come to a meeting and address the board. How is any other way not cowardly?
Comments are either credible or not regardless of who posts them. Address the credible comments and discredit or blow off or ignore the crap comments. What is giving the crap comments credibility is that some choose to address them which makes them sound legit.
then ask them for the details that supports or maybe doesn't support their comment. If they can't do this then move on. Others will see the bs of the comment at that point.
If the people making accusations would simply step forward at a meeting or even on this board using their name and the names of those they are accusing then the EB could address the actual issues and we could all get on with our lives. Unfortunately those people making those accusations are only on this board to create doubt in the minds of the membership. They want to undermine the hard work the elected volunteers on the EB have done. If it were any other reason they would have come to a meeting and spoken up in front of the membership a long time ago. Yet they dont. They don't because they want to drag the BC through the mud. Those same people sqawking don't even volunteer for a committee. Kristi is the only one that is on a committee this year, so far. These very immature and childish people sit behind anonnimity and make slanderous claims about people they won't name for reasons they won't be clear on. Honestly the moderator should just make a habit of deleting all anonymous posts from now on. That would clear all of this up.
One of the biggest problems we have is that there's no accountability (and no fear) on anonymous posts. You don't know if it's really a BC Member or not ... and since this board in particular ALLOWS for anonymous posts, you can't stop that behaviour, other than through the BM Deleting the threads --- the BM here doesn't delete anything, so you can't count on that either.
The only solution, IMO, is to get the BC their own board, and keep all of this garbage off of here and the grey board, and then let this board and the grey board do what they do --- talk hockey over there, talk smack over here --- it's nice and simple.
if this board wasn't here you wouldn't even be able to express that thought. Freedom...isn't it nice? Lots of our boys have died for it soooo lets be free to exchange thoughts no matter how unpopular. And why do you need the persons name?
Comments are either credible or not regardless of who posts them. Address the credible comments and discredit or blow off or ignore the crap comments. What is giving the crap comments credibility is that some choose to address them which makes them sound legit.
I don't want the smack deleted --- just the Booster Club arguments --- they have no place here.
It's not about "freedom", it's about proper segmentation of the market. Talk about what needs to be talked about WHERE you're supposed to talk about it. That's what I'm driving at.
This forum is basically here for smack talkin ... let's be able to find those threads and not have to wade through "Who screwed who over at the booster club meeting" talks.
just one place for everything. who said this forum is just for smack talk anyway? answer: only you. it actually is the only one that has a bit of everything and there is a segment of the market that likes that.
Its nice to have at least one forum where fans can express their thoughts (deal with them) and anything controversial is not deleted like on the commie board.
The grey board has already evolved out of that role. To re-institute a new directive doesn't make any sense at this point.
As I stated earlier, the 2 primary boards each serve a good and needed purpose.
This on is a complete free-for-all. Anything goes (except, hopefully, the Booster Club Crap). Visitng teams fans are welcomed in to call us trailer trash, and we can all fight back and call them nasty names as well.
The grey board is more or less people that like to talk hockey strategery during the season, and get more indepth in some of the discussions.
There's room for, and a need for, both types of separate forum types. I enjoy debating strategy over there, and I enjoy the name calling here. Those 2 things really shouldn't be merged into one forum, because you're going to scare off half of each type of poster --- the people that want to talk **** are going to infect the real hockey discussions, and the people that want to talk x's and o's are going to be put off by the smack. Let's leave the 2 forums separated as they are. Each has their core group, and a few of us swing both ways when we feel like it.
At the core of the whole thing is the BC discussions. Neither forum wants them, and the BC has been resistant to having their own. That needs to stop right now. I'll put up the motion at the next meeting.
we should all be in one place. As an adult I can read the stuff I'm interested in (eg. smack talk, bc crap, strategy) and ignore the stuff I'm not interested in and that changes from day to day.
Pretty soon we'll have boards for 10 year olds that want to talk strategy, one for teens that want to talk about the game music, one for adults that want smack talk and BC crap, one for single moms that want to talk about the facility and also get BCHL news, etc. etc. etc.
