I like Johnny to, but I would like to see storys from the other characters as well. I would like to see a veriety of storys that involve each character as the main character.

This is a common request, but I'm afraid that most E! writers prefer to write about Johnny. After all, if you remember, John and Roy were the main characters on the show. Also, many E! writers (myself included) still find Randy/Johnny irresistible, and we just prefer to write about situations in which our favorite character is featured. Why not try your own hand at writing? The beauty of writing is that you can create any situation for any character. Try it!

There are plenty of sites that are character specific. Just type the character of your choice into a google search and see what happens! My site will always feature Johnny most because that's about all I enjoy reading <vbg>.

Happy searching!

Yeah, Write

I agree with you. I like Johnny too but from a now much more mature standpoint (I'm over the hill per my teens) I like Roy a tad bit more. My stories centered more on the DeSotos. I have no medical background (okay, I know =itis is an inflammation, I think) and no fire fighting knowledge (Yea, I know not to use water on a grease fire!) so my stories lack much in the way of those details. As a former wife and current mother of children, I actually like writing more from Joanne's point of view or in one case, using a song to come up with a story for Roy. Everyone sees things so much differently and even if some stories seem a little off the wall to me, diversity is a great thing (and gives us more to read!)

Funny you should say that...

I had the hots for Bob Fuller which is why I first watched Emergency!, then fell head over heels for John Gage. But, like you, I know find myself more interested in Roy today, although I still can drool over Johnny (and melt for Stoker, and sigh for Chet when he's being sincere and in closeups, but I much prefer Marco today as opposed to then, muy caliente!)(oh, yeah, let's not forget Cap who I always saw on horseback in a western or the strong silent type who pioneered the west behind a plow).

I never thought that Roy was wishy-washy or just Mr. GoodyTwoShoes, however. Even in the pilot Roy showed a wicked sense of humor and a subtle sarcastic tone (would the boy next door use the term "impotent wonders"?) that I appreciated. Seeing the series once again, I enjoy watching Roy's wicked grin (a killer equal to Johnny's lopsided one any day) as he watches the antics of his partner and the rest of the zoo at 51.

Variety...

Oh, I agree! While I love reading (and writing) Johnny Gage stories, I often like to read stories about other characters too. This has found it's way into my writing in the form of a couple of Roy stories posted and a Mike story (talk about a challenge!) in the works. In fact, I've vowed to one day write a story for each A Shift character. (eventually. <g>)

There are some good stories about other characters on KMG365, Code Red, The Burning Hat Club (?) and several other sites. In fact there are sited dedicated to some of the other characters in the show (I apologize to the webmistresses of said sites...I have a hard time remembering them all..thats why I have bookmarks. <G>)

Its fun to delve into the minds of the other characters!
Cheryl

Interactions

August 9 2003, 7:11 PM

What appeals to me, both in the series and the stories, is the interaction between the characters. I love watching Dixie and Johnny in scenes together as Johnny seems so delighted with her, flirting and teasing.

Family style teasing is a common thread in this series, even Brackett finds time to tease Roy and John. I've always enjoyed watching the subtle interactions between all the characters and how they actually grew during its run.

So much could be shown with a look, a smile, the tone of voice. For the time period and for a series by Jack Webb, it a remarkable achievement. I give thanks that Jack (whose work I liked, don't get me wrong) allowed Cinader and Hannah the freedom to make their own type of show.
