I've gotta thank you ladies for that last topic; living in a household of all males, I get testosterone overload on a daily basis. So thanks for the estrogen fix, I really needed it.
On to my topic: What characteristic, personality trait or feature made or makes you go weak in the knees for Johnny?

Johnny's Appeal

April 10 2003, 4:41 PM

Well... this is a great question that brings these wonderful images of that crooked grin, those beautifully expressive eyes and that derriere, oh my my. But what attracted me to Johnny when I was 16 remains today after 31 years. And that is his courage and bravery. His kindness and compassion. There are so many examples, we all know the scenes, the shows where Johnny went above and beyond the call of duty to do his job. From the time he rescued a little girl by digging her out of what would have been her grave to saving a climber from the heights of a tall building. And the simple kindnesses...giving Chet his guitar, making a home for a pregnant cat, buying a nursery layette for the child of a poor family (never mind that he used the Green Stamps that were meant for the Station BBQ grill).
He had a zest for life, a passion for it. Some fans say that he always had a scheme but I always saw it more as being a risk taker. Looking for the adventures that life can offer.
But for me most of all it was his vulnerability, his trusting nature, an almost innocence or naivity. And he always had this ability to laugh - at himself- at others. There were so many shows where he giggled or laughed out loud. He seemed to be able to find the humor in some of life' simple things. Recently, I watched "Isolation". Johnny says something like 'it's the first time I rescued a drowned wrist'. Roy grins at the stupid joke and says 'you think that's funny?'. And Johnny says 'I kinda thought it was funny'. I just like that little scene because it shows you essence of Johnny.
What I really want to know is why all those girls rejected Johnny or dumped him? The man just oozes Sex Appeal!!!! Were they blind or just stupid? Well, we'll never know will we? That's my thoughts for today. It's back to laundry and making dinner! LOL

Kathy,

you put into words beautifully everything I would have if I weren't so tired! So I ditto your answer.

Warning to everyone...I'm in that "overwhelmed" mode. I'm ready to crawl in a hole and hide till June. Can I bring Johnny with me?

The Johnny Attraction

April 14 2003, 5:25 PM

Very interesting question! The first year Emergency was on I was ,of course, attracted to his looks. But the script writing for his character, namely the rants, drove me crazy. As the years went on, the writing improved, and he settled into his roll, the compassion exuded from Johnny Gage. THAT made me happier! One of the first things that I love is when he speaks softly to his victims. His hands have such a soft touch. And those eyes....well, you get the idea. I love men who are soft spoken, and have a gentle touch. Then, when they get a little boisrerous, it makes the package complete. And, oh yes, the giggle. That's not acting, as most of you know that have met the MAN in person. At MAW last year as my daughter and I were walking away from his table, he gave a little giggle said "Goodbye sweetie" to my daughter. Then she looked at me and said, "Mom, he sounds just like Johnny".
