I enjoy reading everybodys take on E! but it seems that more often than not on this board that no matter what the subject starts as it ends up in mud slinging. Somebody says something that another diagrees with and they then state their opinion, This is great but then the first person feels like they are being attacked and shoots back. We are all adults and I would like to see us act that way. If you feel like you have been misunderstood or attacked can't we take it off the board and email the person? what seems to start out as two with a misunderstanding turns into 4 or 5 or more getting in on it.
Remember that there are more lurkers than participators on this board as there are on most story lists and sites. Lets make it so that they will want to keep visiting.

I disagree with that part of your post. This MB has been virtually (though not completely) free of mudslinging in the past.
Nothing good ever lasts forever, I suppose. It was fun while it lasted.
I can make better use of my time than to offer opinions and ask questions which are laughed at hysterically by someone who is defending my right to express those opinions. Huh? is right.
Who knows, with time on my hands now, I might even be able to write another one of my wretched stories and force it upon the unsuspecting fandom!!! What a cruel twist of fate! Now, see what you've done?

Sigh. I am sorry that my arrival coincided with the start of the slinging, but I hope I'm not perceived as a co-slinger.
I do have strong opinions, and I like to express them, but everyone else needs to keep expressing themselves, too. Never shut up just because someone disagrees with you. Or laughs at you.

This fandom needs a place like this.
Personally LInda, I thought you added much to the discussion with your views. No mud from you. Please let me rush to qualify that with the proverbial, that's just my humble opinion, of course. Others may disagree, and it's their right to do so.
Openly expressing strong opinions (which many were doing) is far different from betlittling. (JMHO)
It takes a lot more than this to shut me up. LOL. I'll just go back to writing E! fic. Both writing itself, and the feedback I get from readers, is so much more rewarding than knowing subjects I consider worthwhile have provided public fodder for someone else's comic relief.
Nan,
You were stating a very good point and I guess it was just how I saw some of the past discussions going. My Opinion!
But I don't understand why you had to add a problem from the last thread to this one?

I would have asked this off list but you haven't included a email addy.
Her email addy is ALL over that place. Shoot, you can even find it amongst a story on the new ex-Tig site.
You will note that I have not included my email to this or other posts either. My email too is all over the place. Literally. A simple Google search will smack you with how all over the place it is.
But, just in case you still missed mine, here's my old website (I just can't seem to finish the redesign... something to do with CLAFMA webmastery and putting up an ecommerce site so those who care, can buy LACoFD and Project 51 stuff.... MUCHless try and get the old Project 51 site back up....)
<<But I don't understand why you had to add a problem from the last thread to this one?>>
There wasn't a problem in the last thread. It was all a very interesting discussion with more email going on behind the scenes in a addition to the MB.
Someone just decided to jump in with both feet and ridicule the lot of it disrespecting the fact, again, that we all play fair. And other someones decided to make a gang of it.
Posting to a new thread beating to death an issue of play nice is perpetuating it.
If you want to ignore something, then ignore it or if you can't, then add your two cents where it belongs then move on to the next discussion.
Course, there is that issue of free speech and that thing about freedom not being easy. To misquote, Being American isn't easy. It means having to stand there while someone stands on a soapbox and shouts out to the crowd a philosophy that represents everything you are against -- and let them.
Two things, more than anything else sadden me here...
1. Nan, I hate to see you leave. I thought your posts were intelligent and very thought provoking, as were yours, Linda, and Rose. (I'm sure I'm missing someone here, but with such a long thread, who can remember everyone? )
2. That anyone can percieve open and intelligent discussions of different people's opinions as mud slinging, bashing, or flaming. Too often in this world, people take intelligent discussion of different opinions personally, and that is a tragic thing, because it makes people afraid to express their opinions. How in the world can you understand someone else's opinion, and therefore validate your own, unless you discuss both opinions openly and freely? How can two sides learn more from each other if they don't interact and talk about how they percieve the world around them?
To use an example: I have learned so much more about the Native American community, in the past week or so, both through this message board and privately with Rose, than I ever knew before. While I agree to disagree on some issues, my overall perceptions have changed dramatically.
Learning is the first step to understanding...and both are nothing but positive influences on all of our lives.
