Heard from Tig tonight, and she and her family are all safe, including those closest to New Orleans. Power and phones are out for the time being, but they were extremely fortunate to avoid the kind of damage closest to the coast and to the east.

Thought you'd all like to know!

I think we were all wondering, and worried. I have another friend, in Covington, and haven't heard from her, but hopefully she and hers are fine, too.

Thank God, and thank you for letting us know. My thoughts and prayers are with those still unsure of the status of their loved ones and those grieving for lost loved ones and homes.

I'm so glad Tig is okay, praying for all of them, that people can pick up the pieces and rebuild their lives.

MJ, I know where she lives & I have been so worried. I have a niece in Fairhope, Al, very close to Mobile & she said she was OK but have been so worried about Tig. Gosh this is really horrible mess. Say a long prayer for a LOT of folks

Even for those not near the worst of of it, supplies are becoming impossible to obtain--simple things like ice or water. I'm sure you've all seen the images of people looting stores for basics like that.

Aside from prayers, if anyone has a few spare dollars (and with the price of gasoline skyrocketing across the country, there can't be many of those!) I know that the American Red Cross, among other reputable charities, would be most grateful for anything you could send! If you're looking to help, that's one way. Or, give blood if you are able. That's another good way to assist!

I'm heartened by Venezuela's offer of both oil and humanitarian help. And offers of help from countries around the world. Granted, we are among the wealthiest of nations, but any assistance is most welcome!

Well Im thinking that is where my dollars are going. May God bless & protect all those folks down there. They need everything we as Americans can give them!!!
