Tig asked for this email to be shared with the board, so here you are:
Hi all,
We're in day 5 with no power. We've spent each night in our own home except for Wed. night. Thurs & Fri nights our neighbor has shared his generator with us, so we can run fans at night. It makes a huge difference. We are heartbroken for New Orleans, as you can imagine. Some of you asked me last night how you can help. Here's what I thought of today... Rather than sending funds to big organizations like the Red Cross, I would request help for the area I am in which has also suffered great losses. We won't be back in school until October! There are 2 things I can think of that I really would appreciate help with - My 2 family members who lost their homes - if Emergency! fans would like to send Wal-Mart cards or something of that nature, it'd be great! My niece is going to be induced on Monday morning with a baby girl, and she is one of the ones who lost everything. My brother is the other family member who's home is under water.
The other organization I would recommend is the Ponchatoula Hurricane Relief Fund (I live in the Ponchatoula area) and donations are being taken at Florida Parishes Bank. If E! fans would consider either of these efforts it would be deeply appreciated. If they want to send a check for the Ponchatoula area they can send it to me and I will bring it to the bank. Gifts for my family members can also be sent to my address. We're supposed to be getting mail again soon. My address is: Linda Joiner 42348 Stewart LN. Hammond, LA 70403.
My neighbor has a coleman stove and we cooked Ramen Noodles for dinner tonight...and my kids we SO excited to have a "real meal" LOL.
Please post this email on the Tigger message board as my internet time is limited. I'm on a laptop with battery power and using dial up access.
Thanks again for the prayers, and please keep praying. Our lives have been turned upside down by this event.
Take Care!
