You gals in Texas are in my thoughts and prayers as the next hurricane comes into the Gulf. I pray everyone , those already battered by Katrina and those in danger from Rita, will be able to find shelter and be safe.

Yeah, I echo your sentiments. Hopefully, you'll get through this one unscathed!

People are going nuts here...I've been helping out @ Radio Shack this week since our schools haven't reopened yet, and it's just crazy!!!! I can't get gas... We're expecting just lots of rain and winds less than 40mhp, so SE LA should be fine.

Those of you closer...get out of town... head out of harms way, and if we learned anything from Katrina, be prepared to stay away from home for an extended period of time. Take anything of value with you, because you may never see it again! If you have gas containers, fill them all up.

Prayers to everyone in the path of this storm.

Hugs,

Tig

Hurricane Rita

September 23 2005, 8:09 PM

Our dear friend who posts here frequently -- Jan Downey -- has had to leave her home in the Houston area. She's supposed to call and let me know she's safe, but I'm sure she's got her hands full... Please keep her (and those beloved doggies of hers) in your thoughts.

Tig -- I hope this latest storm isn't a major setback for your area. Keep in touch.

We were SPARED

September 25 2005, 8:47 PM

Nan & folks. I tried to get out but actually could NOT. Now if you had told me I couldnt get out of Houston I would have said WHAT ARE YOU NUTS. But I couldnt!! Period!!

We are fine. But those poor folks that sat on the side of the highway with children, elederly folks & pets really did Suffer!!!! I have lived in Tx my whole 62 years & have NEVER seen such a mess. I was here during Hurricane Carla in 1961 or 1962 & believe that is why I wanted OUT!!! And to think I literally could NOT get out of the city of Houston was scary!!!!

But we are fine. Thanks for the thoughts & prayers that kept us safe.

My prayers go back to those poor folks in Louisana & Eastern Texas who thought Houston & Galveston were going to take a HIT!!

Man, California, New Mexico, Colorado, Montana look so great to move to NOW!!!! Lets see, then there is Washington state, Idaho, NOT Arizona(too much like Houston NOW, HOT & DRY but not as HUMID)

Sigh.

Home & so very glad to be SAFE!!!

Jan & the doggies

Jan- great to hear you made out fine! We made out fine here too... lost power and phones again, but just for 24 hours this time. I've had enough hurricanes for my lifetime. Tennessee is looking good to me, LOL.
