Front wheel drive

by Silviaguy

A thought on front wheel drive. Its not perfect for drag racing, and i wouldnt prefer it on a road course. but its not really as bad as some people would make it out to be. its not really any harder to get a FWD car into the low 12s then it is a rear wheel drive car. Difference dont really seem to make them selfs known until you hit sub 12s. And a low 12 second daily driver thats front wheel drive is pretty impressive in my opinion.

Re: Re: Front wheel drive

by Silviaguy

And you get to pay more on insurance and gas, ect. True, any one can dig up a old muscle car and do 12s relatively easily. but its not always economical, besides that front wheel drive cars are cheap and plentiful. and lightweight, handling is important to alot of guys as well as respectable quarter mile times. front wheel drive may not be the best when it comes to handling, but its not horrible either, a light weight front wheel drive like a civic will out turn any old muscle car.

Now there are newer options, 10 year old camaros and mustangs, that kind of thing, but like with me, im 19, with 2 speeding tickets, know how much i would pay in insurance on a camaro? hell i've been looking around, and im going to be paying close to twice as much for 240sx in insurance then i would on a sentra of the same year. because the sentra is 4 doors, and front wheel drive. the 240 is rear wheel drive and two door.

Besides, what if you liked, lets say honda? im not really a big honda guy, but they make good examples. What if you liked the civic. okay, you like the civic, doesnt mean you want to buy a camaro, because some one else says its easier to make go fast.

my theory of speed is that you take any thing and do what it takes to beet anyone.... i dont care if its a 67 1/2 datsun roadster or a 74 vega as long as you can make it go fast for less than the guy who spent 5 grand on a turbo kit for his sohc civic and is still hitting 14s, its all good...

I agree

by Widowmaker

Except that Civic's don't handle all that well. Shelby Mustangs and Cobra's would outhandle any civic nowadays. But, in general, muscle cars didn't handle very good.

But, you run what you run, and I totally respect that. If your Honda is faster than my Mustang, than you deserve my respect, but if you drive a riced out Honda that runs mid 17's and brag about being the fastest shit around, then I will laugh.

LOL mid 17s! yeah those guys suck ass.

as for civics handling, nah there okay as far as commuter cars go. they have pretty advanced suspension for how cheap they are. And the Integras, sold under the acura brand obviously, can be made to rule road courses. but your run of the mill civic, not that good.

If you want inexpensive handling go to mazda. any one know anything about the new mazda speed protege, and obviously the miata. the old 7 handled like a champ.a nd the new RX-8 will no doubtable do the same.

f.w.d

by d.v.s

i dont like cars with f.w.d .I also dont like turbos because of the lag.i also dont like power bands that are set to high because people dont usually drive thier cars past 2500rpms on a daily basis. i do like superchargers, i also like r.w.d and a.w.d. i also like like light cars .i would also like a car with a mid engine design .i would be happy with a car that would hit the low to mid 12s but i would be more concerned with top speed.so i would design this mid-engine car with the new chevy vortec V6 engine it has about 270 hp add a sc with a new fuel system new exhaust and new chip,it would bring it to about 400 hp. the reason why i picked 400hp is because i would like the car to be a daily driver.the car would also have a weight of 2400lbs.awd would be included .i would prefer plastic panels over metal for the exterior.

Just takes fitting the right turbo to the right engine. gt25 turbos produce no lag really, but there small ad limit highend power, for a small engine application im found of the Gt3037 type turbos, but if you had a larger engine like a v8, maybe a t4 or something? just depends, but with the right turbo you can get that supercharger response, and hopefuly more highend

It would be fast, especialy if you set the neon up for rear wheel drive, but it would handle like a semi truck. all that weight in the front. Plus you would have to extend the neon engine bay several feet, i would imagine.

How about a Ford Triton V10 in a classic mustang? then turbocharge it, you know, give you some high end power.

but you have to admit it, if it wasnt for street racing, how many people would be racing on tracks? most kids cut there teeth on the street.

The FInal WOrd on IRAQ?

by Flat-6 Extreme

Okay here we go. Everyone wants proof. Here it is, its easy, We went to war with Iraq in 1991 because of saddams dirty deeds. Did we finish that war, NO WE DID NOT. Saddam is still alive and still in power. Saddam was bad enough to go to war against then and he still is, people like that do not change, they are called dictators. So what I am trying to say is that this new war with iraq is just a continuation of the war the WE did not finish in the early 90's. The objective was no completed before and that right there is reason enough to finish cleaning up the mess that we left. It was unfinished and now its time to finish it, Saddam has not become good all of the sudden over the years, and if he is in fact good then why does he torture his own people especially the kurds. Saddam is bad and needs taken out and I respect our presidents decision. Last Time i checked the President DID not have to tell anyone anything, thats why he is the president and we are not. And another thing, the president in this country has no power at all by himself, he cannot start a war, it takes votes from congress and the UN, the president has shit for power yet everyone blames him for problems that arise. people just dont make any sense.

The president is always held accountable for the problems. Its harder to blame a group of people(congress) but the president is susposed to be a leader, inspire people, put forth the ideas of this country! and hes the one in charge of enforcing the constitution, thats not really the way its done in america, usualy its the president bending the constitution, with the congress trying to push him up, or tear him down, depending on if there in the same party. and the supream court is the one who usualy protects the constitution.

If the Dodge Neon SRT4 is out yet, then that would have to be the top choice on my list. 0-60 in 5.9, 215hp not bad.
after that Id have to say
1 Acura RSX base, not bad for a 4 cylinder, you cant see behind you very well. But who wants to go backwords anyways. Good acceleration and handling
2 V6 camaro, its RWD and can be made to go fast. only a 200hp V6 still a nice looking car
3 V6 mustang, 190hp, what?? well at least they look nice and you can pick up the ladies in a mustang

Dyno test show the Dodge Neon SRT4 putting down more hp at the wheels then its rated for at the crank.

and yeah, it gets my number 2 spot, Its deffenately the fastest. But i like the subtle performance of the Mazda Speed Protoge, also turbocharged, swap the turbo for a GT3036 series, and a bigger intercooler and it will be running the same speeds as the Neon, plus it will be turning nearly as quick as a miata.

Offering other peoples children is part of the deal of being the u.s. kids have died in ww1 ww2, vietnam, etc,,,... its part of being an american, you have to fight for your country and stay strong. lets say for example if we were to lose 1500 americans in a war with iraq. that number is minimal compared to what would happen if old mister saddam got a weapon of mass destruction in this country, lets say a nuke for example. that could easily kill millions. also he could hit other places as he did in the past, such as kuwait. american children are no different than any other kids, so whats the difference if saddam was to drop a nuke on kuwait, kids are still dying either way. he needs to be stopped, i just hope these baby boomers runnin the show have enuff brass to do it. If not, well fellas IT WAS NICE KNOWING YA.

Re: HUH????????

by Silviaguy

Fine, i agree, but i want to see the proof he has those weapons! This is America! we dont just attack people because our governmnet says there bad! just show us the proof mr. bush.

though i do like the idea of your murder squad. But you dont land in the airport, You paradrop in.

Tell me, is it too much to ask for proof before we kill someone? and i dont buy that whole "Cant reveal our sources!" because what the hell is the point of proof if you cant show it to any one?

Why do you think Bush has to show it to us?

by Widowmaker

He doesn't have to show us the proof. He is our president, and I for one believe him when he, and presidents/prime ministers of other countries, say they have proof. Iraq sold VX gas to terrorist organizations, they've likely sold Smallpox, (Why else all the vaccinations?), and we know that they have attempted to develop nuclear weapons in the past. Right now, Sadam is as rich and power hungry as ever. For a while, he'll move his weapons around while we have inspectors there, but we can't keep them in the country. What then do we do? What do we do when Sadamn detonates such weapon in a major city? What if he claims to have more weapons ready to blow up more cities unless we comply to his demands? What then? Do we attack him and pray that millions more don't die? Or do we roll over and give in to his demands? The point is, we can't let that happen. We are the only super power in the world. That means that if we don't do anything, we'll get blamed, and if we do something, we'll get blamed. It's not a winning solution for us either way, at least we can save lives by taking him out of power now.

Re: Why do you think Bush has to show it to us?

by Silviaguy

He has to show us because hes is OUR president, We are not his subjects he is OURs. That is why he has to show us. This is not a dictatorship. This is America. I dont give a fuck about what other countries will blame us for. They blame us for everything already. I care about what will we blame on us. Im not willing to follow someone blindly into war, hoping that hes telling the truth. We dont have to put up with that. this is not iraq. we are allowed to question our leaders motives. I want proof, and suddenly im the bad guy? im unamerican, bullshit i am. I just want proof. A simple request, if our leadership cant provide us proof how are they going to wage war against everyone they have desided are bad.

You say we have a responsibility to take our saddam because were the only super power? I agree, afterall what does spiderman say? With great power comes great responsibility. But we also have a responsibility to make sure our actions are just with proof. That great power that gives us the responsibility to take out terrorist, and dangerous people is the same responsibility that means we need to make sure our actions are just before we use our great military, economic and industrial power against other human beings.

I will not let the feaver of War allow me to ignore every idea this country has been based upon for the last 220 years. I would hope you guys do the same. There is nothing wrong with taking saddam out. But if our reason is going to be that they have weapons that can kill lots of civilians, then lets see the weapons.

And sence this hasnt happened it makes me think he doesnt have those weapons. He probably wants them, and maybe hes trying to get them. but i dont believe he has them. And if our president isnt honest and frank about that situation, then how am i going to trust him in a war. Im not.

Call me Liberal, call me young, Call me American, because thats what i am. There is nothing wrong with what i believe. And your not going to convence me, unless i see proof!

Let me ask you? if the president said japan had weapons of mass destruction and we have to stop them and didnt show any proof would you believe him?

Accord V6

by Silviaguy

Does any one know anything about this engine? The car its self, the coupe version any ways is pretty nice looking, and would make a great show car. Just seems like a big open canvas. And it has a relatively large V6, i wonder how much power it would produce supercharged. Common Honda give us a Rear wheel drive version!

Ah thats right. Well i knew the reason you dont see that style on a inline car is simply because the difference in the intake manifold. as opposed to a classic V configuration.

anyways. It would make a interesting show car! wether it would look good or not is up to debate, personaly i dont know.

Sleeper. disturbthepeace's idea

by Silviaguy

How about a Sentra, like a B13 There small and lightweigth, with a number of healthy engine swap options from the SR20DET (205hp 203 ft/lbs of torque)and the SR20VE (similar numbers to the DET, less torque though, and its Naturaly aspired, uses vtec technology) and a few other nice nissan engines.

Advantages: Not a Riced Out Honda! Tame looking, Light Weight, Not considered to be fast by many. Very nice and easy engine swap options. Price.

Dissadvantages: Front Wheel Drive!

It wouldnt be hard to slip a 300 hp+ SR20DET engine into one, maybe go threw with some weight reduction, and such. It wouldnt be the fastest car out there but 12s are forseeable with out too much problem, any faster then that and traction becomes a huge concern. No one would expect it. Unless they really knew nissans.

Chevy Celebrity. I drove one of those the other day. It has to be the slowest car I have ever driven, 0-60 (no joke) in 14 seconds. No one would ever suspect that thing to be fast.
