between conforming outta respect versus conforming in order to please?
This might be a bad example, but it's the first one that came to mind:
Sitting in church:
Outta respect you don't jump up and down screamin' "I love the Devil and the Devil loves me!" (LOL).
In order to please you jump up and down screamin' "I love the Lord, and the Lord loves me!"
Personally, I'd be more inclined to go with option number one, but outta respect, I'd just sit there and shut up. I wouldn't think conforming in that manner is disrespectful or of negative impact to yourself and certainly not others.
