You will need to clean it off, A wire wheel on a drill will work but remember the piston is Aluminum !!
And yes it will build up again, it just happens, better to be a little rich that too lean .........
Your most likely running a little rich if it's a dry sooty build up, if it's a wet build up then ya got some oil in the mix.
