How did it fit? by Bob (no login )
i narrowed the end of the shaft a bit to fit the arm.
seems to be a lot of different arms out there for hd.
and was having some that were a tad tight.how's about a pic?Posted on May 18, 2003, 12:23 PM from IP address 66.219.136.145 Respond to this message Return to Index

I couldn't get the little keeper thingy in there (the part that keeps it from spinning). I'll hack on the arm a little and see what I can doPosted on May 18, 2003, 12:25 PM from IP address 209.112.95.203 Respond to this message Return to Index

a CH thick - can't get the bent tab in there that keeps it from spinning. The pedal end goes in fine by itself, but when I put the metal tab thingy in it's just a CH tight. Posted on May 18, 2003, 12:35 PM from IP address 209.112.95.203 Respond to this message Return to Index

Can you make pike nuts?
Also, got a coupla other pieces i'm most likely gonna need made up....wheel adapters. What i have is 4-lug quad axle/wheel hubs and i'm gonna need some adapters made up where i can run chevy car rims on them instead of the small quad rims. Something like that feasable??? BikeWorx®

....I'm going to try and get your shifter down this week, hopefully. Things are kinda busy, just got a new garaage to move my activities into, so gotta get all that stuff in there. I'll need to get a thread count and diameter of the shaft you want to put it on, so I can get the right insert. yeah, a manual helps a bit...not much, but a bit.
I'm thinkin the carbs just need a good cleaning is all as they are notorious for getting plugged up really easy.

engine numbers would be good by
Wm.
(Login wmvining )
now that i think about it, the '79 GS1000 i had was electric start only too, so it very well could be a 77/78
I myself can't decifer an engine number, but i'm sure the guys at www.gsresources.com can
And if this other guy doesn't follow up on the gs750 i have here, i may just have a starter for ya. Guess it wouldn't matter too much if i sold it, as it is electric and kick start BikeWorx®

Yepper!!!!!! Gettin back here was another story though by
Wm.
(Login wmvining )
Let's see, i left you guys around 11-11:30 my time, and got back here around 8:30-9pm
1st ~ got back into Indy and caught the 2 twisters that decided to pass through
Spent 2 hours at a truckstop waiting for the cops to reopen 65 north
Just get back on the highway, spit yet another rear trans seal
Get that fixed, hit the highway again, get about 20 miles south of Gary, Indiana and shoot a rear tire. Get out in the downpour and start changing it only to break 3 lugs........limped the truck into Gary and got some new lugs, then tip-toed home with a helly vibration that i still haven't found yet
BUT.....other than that.......did ride the Virago for a coupla hours last night
Glad ya made it safe.....and it was great meetin ya
Have fun and keep me posted onhowthe frame comes along and on them forward controls....them things KICK ASS!! BikeWorx®

The storms themselves didn't bother me.......for 16 years i worked in weather like that so it wasn't a big deal.
The flat and 2 trans seals is what killed me.......then of course the spare was too damn wide for the sides of the flatbed, so i hadta 86 one of the boards
But all in all it was a well deserved trip......fun too BikeWorx®
