I looked into using HD® wheels because they are plentiful indeed, but the amount you have to crank the engine to one side was disturbing.
Unless you have the rear wheel offset by quite a bit, which will make for weird handling.
You cannot offset just the drive sprocket to get it lined up.

inward. Its not much and i'll know exactly how much when i throw the motor in later this week or possibly today. Its about .25.I mean look how far the brake drum sprocket setup sticks out on a stock wheel. Here's a pic of what i may need to do,but i may shave the hub down instead.

How ya been? Made some improvements around here. Cleaned up the basement and installing a machine shop down there. Already got the mill, lathe, surface grinder, and saw. Working on getting a tig welder now. Next time your down I'm going to pick your brain, I've got a lot of learning to do now that I got my hands on this stuff.

Good to hear from you too.Since my job got eliminated I've been moving a lot of stuff to my house down in southern ohio and trying to get a shop set up down there.Sounds like you've been busy.Looks like a road trip is needed.Whats your schedule like these days?
Also i still have that land for sale down in guernsey county.(8.4 acres)

66 Bsa lighting chopper.Asking 2k but will consider offers or partial trades etc.Have no more room and it needs a good home.Clear ohio title, frame and motor nos. match.
New parts:
Boyer ignition,mity max,dual coil,wires,top tree,seat and hardware,battery,elec box,ignition.
I repainted ,but i'm not a painter but it aint to bad.
Starts good, slash cut pipes with baffles(loud)sounds good.Chrome front end with sliders, chrome front wheel needs some work.California style front fork brace/fender,16" rear, new tailight.
What it needs:
Tires, but these would probably last a season or two.Cables(throttle)
Carbs or parts for them.i rebuilt them but they wont hold their settings.May just need new adjustment screws.Motor runs strong regardless.
General cleanup, detailing etc.Gages i have but they are not on the bike.they were mounted on the bars and i was going to change but never got to it.
I really like this bike alot but its a small bike and it dont quite fit me.
Alittle too short. It needs a full time rider and i need the room.Going to go in the local paper next week, thought i'd post here first.

Nothing drastically wrong, but your kicker is mistimed one tooth. The kicker arm doesn't lay down like that on a new motor. Usually what happens is when the seal is changed on the kicker shaft, the (half) gear is pressed back on one tooth off.
Real nice bike. I like everything except that square box on the front. Round "organic" (way too much college here) looking everywhere except that pesky right angle box thingy.
BSAs are better than Triumphs, but Nortons are best of all.

You'll never convince me that the plain timing side bearing on the BSA is superior, or the incredible shakes from the Norton mill.
Triumph is just the best all round.
In my opinion.

Take three model year motors from each three makers
by Wild (no login)
Shake hard and then assemble a motor for each make. BSAs and Nortons will most likely run and may not leak at all. Trumphs might run, but will they leak? Odds are they will gush like the Exxon Valdez. I will admit that triumphs are the prettier of motors, but beauty is only skin deep.
Speaking of pretty, you should see the head that I scored. Did you see the full polished Norton Atlas head on eBay? My shop is it's new home. Unfortunately the guy dosen't have polished cases, so I have my work cut out for me. Get cracking on your pre-unit. I drool over the nice lines of that frame. It'll look bad if my twelve year bike is finished before your six year bike.

I got tired of seeing the same thread at the top.......
I check in here about once a day, while eating my lunch or having my coffee or, you get the idea..........
I still have an idea for a kicker pedal from you. I'll post it here because I'm sure no one is going to steal this stupid idea. You know those gas pedals from the 60's or 70's? The big foot? I want a smaller version of that for a kicker pedal. Long story, not for my bike....... Not sure if it'll work because of the long shape, might have to turn it sideways or alter the design.
Yep got the new harley. And then got hurt at work and had to have surgery on my leg.Now i have a picc in my arm,(catheter)and i have to get intrevenous antibiotics twice a day at the hostpital for the next ten days.
I developed a bacterial infection after bwc didn't treat it correctly. So i will be off work for another 6 weeks or so.But i can walk ok and will be riding real soon.As soon as it quits fuckin snowing!Send me a pic of what you want and i can probably do it for you.

We now have a few hundred shirts available. Thanks to all who may have purchased one or more in the past. We sold a few hundred last weekend at the Carlisle Swap Meet in PA., so they are going fast. Net54 pics are not working but I'll post them anyhow incase they come back soon. You can also check out the shirt design at http://www.amishcountychoppers.com
Sorry to hear about your mishap, hope things are going well and you're healing up.
I'm in the final stages (I hope) on my lifelong (it seems) project, just trying to work out the kinks in this ball of multicoloured spaghetti called a wiring harness. Should have things going soon.
Get well, and I hope you're enjoying your new ride!
Read your post below about the accident. Take care of yourself and hope you heal up quick so you can get out and ride the new sled. Wishing ya the best.

I finally. . . finally got those trees mounted. I hate to work on this bike unless sumptin's broke. Well, one of my forks started leakin and I had to disassemble the front end anyway. So here they are:

I went from a single 30 watt bulb to two 50 watt bulbs. Lemme tell ya, night turns into day with these things. They work great! The trees look sharp as hell.
Later,
