My thoughts....

First of all, Thank You so very much for your long detailed spoiler, it was very satisfying!! I just hope one day I'll be able to see the series again.

I think the best thing about this series was its very real depiction of real life relationships, thanks to a good script and good actors, who really make you feel for them. Unfortunately, I often feel this is not done well in many newer series where relationships just seem too shallow and contrived, and the only plot device are poor love triangles.

Back to the series, I think the bittersweet ending strikes the right note (although part of me always hopes for a happy ending! actually, maybe both characters are happy with their choices at the end?). Roger's words sums up the moral of the series very well, alas too often we don't know what is precious till we have lost it!

Both characters had a rare second chance to be together again, despite changed circumstances, what are your thoughts on that?

Why do you think Esther rejects Roger after her husband died? Is it because she had truly moved on and her feelings for Roger were in the past? Or was it she still had feelings for Roger on some level but it was too soon after her husband's death? Or she felt she could never love Roger again after the way he broke her heart? She doubted Roger's feelings for her? Actually, does Esther miss Roger after their break up? If you were Esther's character, would you go back to Roger? (For Roger's sake, I hope he wholeheartedly loves his new family, even though he will never forget Esther.)

After seeing "The Intangible Truth", where Roger & Esther did not end up with each other, it's too bad they don't here either, but it's great watching them in such different types of series. Pity it's been years since I've seen them together on screen as I've missed their recent collaborations. Have you seen "The Warrior Games" (Sun Zi Bing Fat) which they're both in? Which is your favourite Esther/Roger series?
