Sasquatch as Human

by J

I don't have a problem with Sasquatch as a human. I have no idea if it is or is not but I can imagine a few scenarios where it could be.

IF the PG film depicts a 'human' Sasquatch then visually there is no problem with that. It walks upright, turns and moves like a human, has a very human looking foot and hands. MK once said the only thing that makes it look 'animal' is it's covered with hair. Everything else looks human. Which is true. This is why there has been a debate for years over whether it is a costume or not, because it is so human looking.

So if we assume it is not a costume then it fits 'human' better than ape. It has a human stride and gait.

Since we are speculating consider this...

At some time in the distant past a tribe of Indians had a epidemic of some disease. Most died, but those who survived developed a change. The disease activated a recessive gene that turned on their hair growth. They started growing hair all over.

Most other tribes would avoid them because they would not understand. So this tribe bred within itself, causing that gene to be passed on from generation to generation. No longer having contact with other tribes they would not learn languages nor develop the morals of the other tribes, so they would steal and become far more primitive. Without social contact they would degenerate into an almost animal like behavior. Further causing other tribes to shun them. Legends and tales of them would eventually lead to something like the "Sasquatch". A man-animal, or a mystical beast.

White man comes along and furthers the legend with tales and stories they too don't understand. Sightings of the few remaining descendants of this tribe lead to stories of "Bigfoot" and other fanciful ways of explaining what they saw.

The recessive gene could also be responsible for the bulky look of the tribe as generation after generation continued to pass it on and the tribe developed traits more akin to a previous version of man. But, even if that didn't happen the change in diet and social patterns could cause them to adapt to a more bulky look. Survival of the fittest.

They would lose the ways of other tribes and survive on their own, more akin to animals than man.

With the introduction of white men the social indians are all but wiped out. But the non social Sasquatch would continue to survive avoiding man and extinction. All they would have to do is what they had been doing for centuries, avoid man. Live like an animal.

Anyway, just more speculation to digest. wink.gif

Possible? Plausible? Could this explain "Sasquatch?"
