PNW vs South

by J

I agree that what is seen in the south is not the same as the PNW Sasquatch. The description and basic behavior of the two are different.

"Bigfoot" is a catch all term, anything that is seen to be unusual in the woods across America gets labeled "Bigfoot". Even sounds and things not seen often get placed under the same heading.

It would be far more likely that a primate gravitated to the southern climate, primates would not fair well in the northern climates and regions like the PNW. I believe they could survive but would adapt to a very different animal than the PNW Sasquatch.

For example, a primate species left to adapt to the PNW environment would almost always walk on all fours. The terrain and rocky steep cliffs would make the animal adapt to low crawling and climbing.

Here in the south it is mostly flat land. Quadruped makes more sense.
Imagine you are a primate in the PNW chasing a rabbit for your next meal. Do you want to run upright across hills and rocky mounds, or drop and outrun your prey?

Now imagine you are a primate in the south. Both have their advantages to catch the same prey. You can sprint quickly than pounce on all fours much more rapid without having to balance and navigate as hard. Walking upright has its advantages for observation and normal navigation but when push comes to shove, you will drop and scoot.

It's harder to do that in the PNW. Staying down would be the best advantage at all times.

However in the PNW we do not see a quadruped. It is almost always described as walking 'like a human'. Which would be a disadvantage for the animal unless it was already upright when it adapted to the PNW environment.

Where you are will determine what you are.

Thus, my opinion is we have two species. An ape-like primate in the south and a human-like being in the PNW. Both being labeled "Bigfoot".

Animals that became stuck on the Galapagos Islands adapted to where they were and became new species. Humans in rocky environments adapted their feet to stand on cliffs and fish. They are still very human, but now with a very different foot structure. (See photo in threads below)

IF the PNW Sasquatch started out human then it is still human with adaptations along the way to adjust to being hairy and living more like an animal than a human. It would lose clothing, it doesn't need it. It would forage differently. It may not need fire as now it has a fur covering. Plus fire would draw attention to itself. It is shy and wants to avoid humans unlike itself. Humans = trouble.

No longer eating maze and growing crops but now sustaining on mostly meat it can catch and eat raw would cause it to bulk up.
Human + meat = bulk.
Human + meat & veggies = slim and trim. (or fat if not exercising )

Diet, environment and social attitude will shape the creature in many different ways.

It is my opinion that the PNW sasquatch is either human or very close to it. This critter we have down here is not even close. It's an ape. For me everything about it screams ape. Thus a "Swamp" ape.
