Gary, you are fortunate to have had your encounters

some people live their entire lives hoping to see a monster critter and never do. Legend of Boggy Creek got me interested. Back in the mid 70's early 80's just east of the city I live in(Venice,Fl.)there was a flap of monster sightings...I was a teenager then. A friend of the family(he was just a kid)back in the late 1960's had an encounter while rabbit hunting, he was hunting near a creek and smelled a really bad odor, on the other side of the creek was this creature he called a man-looking thing covered in hair that had twigs and debris in it looking at him. He got scared and shot at it a couple of times before grabbing his rabbits and got out of there. There was a sighting of this creature by some old guys that were out in that area gigging frogs...they ran for their truck to get out of there with the creature in pursuit. I had a classmate in my teens that nearly ran right into one that was trying to get into the pen that held his ducks. He said it was a 6ft tall ape looking creature and he didn't care to tell much more...I guess it scared him pretty bad.
The Myakka River runs just east of town and back then we had a city dump that I bet they were attracted to for goodies... my thoughts anyway. We don't have the city dump anymore. Now with all the new development out that way it probably has pushed them further east or elsewhere...there was a sighting in Myakka State Park back in 2008 that I just read about...that's to the north of us.

I'm tempted to take a drive out there near the river with my son and do a little scouting around as something to do...and take the binoculars and camera also just in case. I'd like to go at night when we can use my night vision monocular to look around but I'm a bit paranoid about having car trouble out there...oh yeah, try to explain to the person rescuing you why you are out there...yeah,were looking for monsters!
I guess by now you're getting a lot of rain...enjoy it while you've got it! Thanks for responding back to my post...I love a good monster story.happy.gif
