I just typed "rapes-in-england" to the yahoo search engine, and came up with 21 sites. Looks like your women would be much safer in Turkey.

Following is copy and paste job from the first site:
One in 20 women raped: UK report

ONE in 20 women have been raped, mostly by present or former partners, and 167 women in England and Wales were being raped each day, according to a government survey.

Researchers found that 45 per cent of rapes were perpetrated by the victim's present partner, compared to eight per cent by strangers, The Independent daily newspaper said.
The findings, based on interviews with 7000 women and published by the Home Office yesterday, showed that 754,000 women in England and Wales have been raped since the age of 16, the paper said.

The report said that of 1183 incidents of rape or sexual assault reported by the women, 56 per cent of attacks were carried out by present or former partners.

The government research showed that a further 21 per cent were perpetrated by dates or other intimates and 16 per cent by acquaintances, the newspaper said.

Home Office minister John Denham said in the paper: "The publication of the new research dispels some of the myths about rape and sexual victimisation, especially the stereotype of the majority of rapes being committed by strangers in public places."

The Independent said the research showed that women from poorer backgrounds and teenagers between the ages of 16 and 19 were most at risk.

Only one in 13 rapes in England and Wales end in conviction, according to the government, which announced new proposals yesterday to deal with rape, including special training for police in dealing with victims, and specialist rape prosecutors.
