It is just not true that mechanical watches are toys exclusive to men. Especially in the recent time, ladies became more and more involved in mechanical timepieces as well, and fortunately, most high-end watch manufacturers have reacted to the demand, offering not-too-small watches with interesting mechanics, and often only a decent jewellery approach. Like this wonderful Ulysse Nardin San Marco GMT Big Date, in this series dubbed "Ladies Dual Time":
With a diameter of 37mm, this watch is even appropriate for a gentleman's wrist. The colour of the mother-of-pearl dial is designated "honey", and nearly impossible to reproduce in pictures. It is lively and decent at the same time. Certainly not flashy at all, and even I would not have any problems to wear it - maybe not with the yellow strap, though.
The polished and boldly designed numerals dominate the modern appearance, and the seven diamonds, complementing the other hourmarkers, are a marvelous detail, which is not conspicious itself, but will be recognized only when the light brings them to life with a sparkle.
The luminous hands make it a perfect everyday watch, also legible at night (my wife at least insists on this kind of nighttime legibility!).
The caseback is beautifully adorned with the San Marco lion and the individual number.
It is nice to see a timepiece satisfying the needs of mechanics enthusiasts, while at the same time being fashionable, elegant, and feminine.
