I have a diecast car I would like to paint for a relative. I have built in plastic but have no experience with metal. The vehicle is a gloss black. I would like to mask the roof and paint the body a yellow color to match the relatives vehicle. I may have to buy actual auto paint to get a match.

What options do I have for a primer? The few plastic cars I have painted, I spray a light mist, wait a few minutes, spray a thicker layer, wait a few minutes and then put on a thicker final coat. What is the best method for metal?
