| Have one in the stash, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I've actually seen a couple built up, but I think the main reason you don't see more is that it's a pretty intimidating-looking kit in the box, with a huge number of parts.
I don't think it's junk - the Revell trucks are much easier builds than the AMT kits (where you have to clean up or re-work just about EVERY part). There was a build up article in Scale Auto years ago and I think there were a couple issues with the wrecker box. I've built the Revell 359 this kit is based on, and trying to get the opening doors to fit correctly is a bit fiddly, but it wasn't too bad a build. Which brings me to the biggest problem with the kit (other than the price), is that it doesn't really accurately represent the prototype. The real Stepps wrecker is a Peterbilt 379, while RofG based the kit on the old Revell USA Pete 359. They added a 379 grille, but it still has the old 359 cab, dash, etc. They did a similar thing with their Bill Signs Peterbult (which goes for CRAZY money on evil-Bay) and their laughable "Marmobuilt", the Peterbilt with the Marmon grill! |
