I just went through my copy of Ronnie Spain's book and found the car. The car at the museum was GT40P/1032. From Ronnie's book, GT40-An Individual History and Race Record:
"...After LeMans (1966), it became one of several Mark IIs which were resprayed to look like the LeMans-winning car GT40P/1046 and subsequently used as show cars throughout America. However, whereas the others were later absorbed back into the racing programme, 1032 remained a show car and by August 1967 had reached as far afield as Italy. On its return to America it was put into storage at Holman & Moody. In 1970 it was loaned to Tony Hulman for display in his Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. Ford later donated the car to the museum...1032 is still on show...as a 1046 lookalike (although black and white instead of black and silver). It is in excellent unrestored condition and is a fine example of a 1966 Mark IIA..."
