The veteran show club, New Jersey IPMS, fresh from its outstanding success with MosquitoCon 2009 (135 entrants and almost 600 models in competition), is also the sponsor of the IPMS USA Region 2 Show this year, which we have named - JERSEYCON!

      Show Details:

JERSEYCON - IPMS USA Region 2 Regional 2-day Convention on Friday & Saturday October 16-17, 2009 - Holiday Inn Runnemede,NJ (In South Jersey off the lower exits of the NJ Turnpike). The hotel rooms are bargain-priced @ $99.00/per night - convention rate, plus taxes and fees - an unbelievably cheap price for a major hotel in Jersey. Call the hotel @ 856-939-4200 for reservations. The show theme is "To the Nines" - the model should have a nine-type theme to it. i.e., Bf-109, PT-109, "Rev it up, 409" and should fall within 1939-2009 time frame. You do not have to be an IPMS member to either enter the contest or just come as a visitor, but it pays to join, since we're offering discounts to IPMS USA members.

We have plenty of categories for car modelers, too!

The 2009 MosquitoCon was our 19th hobby convention since 1992. The last time NJIPMS sponsored a Regional was back in 1982. The last time there was a Regional in Jersey was way back in 1987. Some newbies may ask, "Hey Mike, why is called a Regional?" I'm glad you asked me that question. Years ago IPMS USA split the country up into regions. Region 1 encompasses the whole of New England and New York State. Jersey is in Region 2 and forms the region's northern border, with the southern border being Virginia and the western border, the hinterlands of Pennsylvania. The show site was chosen carefully (as it was in 1982) to draw in as many modelers just south of us - Virgina and Maryland, as well as from the New York metro area, southern New England and Pennsylvania. Cats and kiddies - this should be the mother of all Regionals!

All Hyperscalers who ever attended a show put on by New Jersey IPMS know how well run our shows are and what a great time is had by all. The Contest Committee has some great plans and special events planned.

Jerseycon plans include a great hospitality suite get-together - probably Friday night. They'll be seminars and the show location is close to the Battleship New Jersey Museum and the USS Olympia, just across the Delaware River. We'll be running a $35.00/person bus trip to the USS NJ, If you can't make the bus trip or just prefer to not miss anything at the show you might want to think about visting them the next day - on Sunday. Another attraction is the Adventure Aquarium close to BB62 - yes, you too can swim with the fishes in Joisy!

Vendor tables are selling out quick for both events, so act now. Anyone seeking vendor tables should contact Jim Pentifallo @ 201-927-6061 or email hime at bridgeman77@aol.com. Modelers agree - Our shows have the best vendors around.

Keep watching our websitehttp://www.njipms.org for updates, including on-line features for registration forms and news.
