5 window.......the grill is 39 or 40 (not deluxe) .........

When I was a teen (centuries ago) a guy in my highschool had a 40 Ford  Deluxe.....I'd see it every once in awhile at the shopping center where I worked.....

It was painted "lime green" and souped up flathead V8, duals, olds flipper hubcaps, and was raked (sat where the tail was high and the nose low)......all the rage in those days...............I love it.........

37 Phantom Ford

June 11 2008, 5:28 PM

I am going to bet that this is a "phantom" 37 Ford kit of fiberglass. Ford discontinued 3 window coupes after 36. The kit maker responded to the desire for a 3 window coupe with a "phantom" 37 body. It has been published that Henry Ford came into the design studio and chopped 2" off the clay for the 37 so it looked a little short. It also had thinner sheetmetal according to Big Daddy Don Garlets so it was popular for round track racing as it was light. Greg
