Hi car guys
Can anyone tell me if the 70 Cuda had chrome or painted bumpers. I am an airplane guy but am helping a friend with his Cuda.
Cheers

Many rebuilt 'cudas and street rods feature painted bumpers but the factory used chrome bumpers.

Hi Daryl
Nice to see you over here. I usually see you on "Plane Talking".
My friend is doing a R/C race car for the VTA (Vintage Trans Am) class and wants to do his Cuda properly. I said that I would ask for him on HyperScale's Car forum. Nice to know you guys are out there with the right answers.
Cheers
Bob S.

Chrome!......Painted bumpers were used on some

pick-up trucks, usually the cheaper models and larger truck models....but painted bumpers were seldom used on cars, even the cheap models...........

However, that does not include custom (hot rod) cars......

The Correct Answer Is...

Yes, body-colored front bumpers (elastomeric, not steel) WERE used on some 1970 Barracudas. This was an extra-cost option. I don't have my refs in front of me at the moment but it runs in my mind that these were only available in certain colors, not the entire range. I know I've seen them in red, yellow, and black. I'll try to remember to find my ref book and look up the answer tonight.

The Correct Answer Is...(Part 2)

Body-colored bumpers were most definitely available on 1970 Barracudas. Rear bumper was available in red only, but the front was offered in nine standard colors, including most of the more popular ones seen on Barracudas. When the body-colored front bumper was ordered, the side mirrors were also painted body color.

What color does your friend plan to paint his model?

Hi Snake
Thanks for the response.
He has already painted his Cuda "Plumb Crazy". It is a fine looking car although it has suffered some damage already (Rubbin's racin').
Cheers
