The kind where men sat in the back, like men, and got a facefull of nitro fumes on every run? Check out this site:

http://www.cacklefest.com/

Click on "The Cars" and you can see dozens of beautifully restored examples. Click on many of them and you can see loads of detailed restoration/build photos, which should be of interest to any obsessive detailer.

Hello Snake, Got to love em---

June 4 2011, 9:04 PM

I was the National Sales Manager for Justice Brothers for almost five years and they were part sponsors for the NHRA Hot Rod Reunions in Bowling Green KY, and at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield CA. My job was to participate in the events and to handout the Justice Brothers Spotlight Awards. I got a chance to meet most of my childhood heros Tommy Ivo, Don Garlets and a whole lot more. Was I having fun. If you live close to Bakersfield or Bowling Green you have got to go to one of these events. All the engines are in the front!! And the alterds are amazing. One cacklefest had over fifteen dragsters on the track at one time, at night!! they fired them up at the same time!!

Enough of my rambling, but get to one of these events. Oh by the way they race hard!!

Gator Nationals

June 22 2011, 3:54 PM

I saw Karamasines crash his rail at the Gator Nationals in the 70's...he shot out of that dragster after it crashed and began picking up pieces that were gold plated. It was one of the funniest things I ever saw at a drag race. He had a beautiful rail dragster and instead of chrome plating, his was gold plated (rocker covers, blower, wheels, etc)...the Golden Greek - Karamasines
