Quite a few Normandy 44 pics show some SS tank crews in Leather jackets/trousers. I THINK historians have determined they were actually surplus U-Boat crew leathers that they somehow got hold of.
Coupled to this, I think most of the lether clothing (irresepctive of it's actual source) was distributed amogst crews of the 12th S.S. " H. J." Div.
